Bernie Sanders Surrogates Are Abandoning Ship And Telling Him To End His Campaign
The two top surrogates for Bernie Sanders have both told him that it is time to end his campaign.
In an interview with The Washington Posts Greg Sargent, Sen. Jeff Merkley said, Once a candidate has won a majority of the pledged delegates and a majority of the popular vote, which Secretary Clinton has now done, we have our nominee. This is the moment when we need to start bringing parts of the party together so they can go into the convention with locked arms and go out of the convention unified into the general election .The super-delegates are set aside when you make the judgment that you have a majority of the pledged delegates. I would not support a battle that involves trying to flip super-delegates.
Rep. Raul Grijalva said, The reality is unattainable at some point. You deal with that. Bernie is going to deal with this much more rapidly than you think. At some point, when were trying to flip 400 super-delegates, and its not gaining traction, I think you have to come to the conclusion that its not going to happen. You just move into a different direction. And that different direction is that we begin to try to integrate the party.Hes gonna do the right thing.

(30,481 posts)I know that goes against what a lot of Clinton supporters think. Sanders has about another five days from me.
He is currently negotiating. He started over two weeks ago as he knew that was the climax of his clout, it has been diminishing since. I think that is highlighted in the fact he hasn't released his May financials. There is a story there that Sanders is well aware of.
You and I pay attention to daily news cycles. Most of the country does not though it is what paints a picture over time in the back of their minds. The importance of campaigns owning daily news cycles is real.
If Sanders, in the next week, starts talking in terms based in reality instead of what he is doing now, he will be cheered by most. I think it is a pivot he will make soon.
You are right that Sanders doesn't seem to be in touch with some of his major supporters. It looks like they are speaking to him through media channels. I do think we can look deep into the email Merkley released make a weak assumption that it was coordinated.
