2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary Clinton and the Kreplach Joke.
I've wanted to reread Nora Ephron's novel "Heartburn" for decades and finally got around to ordering a copy. Here is her version of the Kreplach Joke:
"Once upon a time there was a little boy who hated kreplach. Every time he saw a piece of kreplach in the soup he screamed, 'Aaaaah, kreplach!' So his mother decided to teach him not to be afraid of kreplach. She took him into the kitchen and rolled out some dough. 'Just like a pancake,' she said. 'Just like a pancake,' said the little boy. Then she took a piece of meat and rolled it into a ball. 'Just like a meatball,' she said. 'Just like a meatball,' said the little boy. Then she rolled up the meat in the dough and held it up. 'Just like a dumpling,' she said. 'Just like a dumpling,' said the little boy. Then she dropped it into the soup and put it in front of the little boy, and he screamed, 'Aaaaah, kreplach!'"
No matter how many times the liberal voting record and history and personality of Hillary Clinton is explained; that there's nothing to be afraid of, that she (like Obama) is nothing like a Republican, there are still plenty of people who look at Hillary and scream, "Aaaaah, kreplach!"

(11,076 posts)The problem is that Hill's stories aren't nice. Sniper fire for example is a tell of lacking character. Any way you look at it it's bad. You may think it's nothing but to me it's a foundation for all things Hillary.

(325 posts)If you have to make a meal to appeal to the largest group of people, because your meal has to defeat trump, why would you make this stuff from your story, which you are likening to hillary, knowing that you are openly aware that so many people who you feel should like it simply do not like it, even when you try to show them why they should?
Did the boy from the story ever eat the stuff?

(45,319 posts)taste for it, it struck me as a rather Republican point of view for a dumpling to hold. It's the revisionist history the kerplach insists upon that is the problem. That's a dangerous thing, to rewrite history to serve the villains is not something I can support no matter how much my soup wants me to.
