Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Thursday that he is committed to preventing Donald Trump from winning the presidency and plans to meet with presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to discuss his role in the general election effort.
Delivering brief remarks to the press after meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House, Sanders suggested he is ready to cooperate with the Democratic Party in a general election in which he is not the partys nominee, even as he declined to formally concede the race to Clinton.
Sanders said he had called Clinton on Tuesday night to congratulate her on her election wins.

And, he will return to the Senate as one of its top Democratic leaders. After we get control back next year, He will be able to leave his influence on every bill that goes through the Senate.

(18,402 posts)I really think he has to do more than that. I think that at some point--maybe in a week, maybe in two--he needs to officially concede the election and endorse Hillary Clinton. Without that, his attacks against Trump still leave open the option for his supporters to not vote or to throw their votes at a third party wannabe like Jill Stein to assuage their guilt at not voting at all.
But it's more than that. Conceding and endorsing is the thing that people of character do. To not do so would be like a losing team refusing to shake the hands of the winning team after an NBA final game. It's unsportsmanlike. It would display a lack of moral fiber. I hope he does that soon.
