Moved from GD: "First Female Democratic Party Nominee" is the most accurate.

After receiving this, I moved the image. Because I think we can all agree, feminist history is important.

Is usually what's said and fairly accurate IMO. I'm a Sanders supporter, but it is a big milestone.

Everyone says "first female MAJOR party candidate." Sorry, the Green Party doesn't qualify.

In that striking historical hour when Neil Armstrong first placed his foot on the lunar surface, no one rushed in to diminish the importance of that event by saying, “Yeah, but Alan Shepard was the FIRST American in space!” In contrast, it’s astoundingly sad that some Democrats can’t allow even a moment’s celebration of Hillary Clinton’s very remarkable accomplishment.

The narrative is not "Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon...but Yuri Gargarin was the first in space so no big deal."

This is a nomination for an actual political party that can contest for the White House. Every instance beforehand was a token protest candidacy.

As admirable as many of those woman were, none of them objectively stood a chance due to the fact they were not associated with a major (read: Democratic or Republican) party. Like it or not, we're effectively a two-party system until further notice.
