WV Democrats: abolish Super Delegates

...or at least force them to vote in proportion to their state's Pledged Delegates.

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/283163-wv-dems-call-for-resignation-of-dnc-chair

Resolutions for Super Delegate reform have also been passed by Democratic parties in ME, MA, VT, MN, and WI.

18. I like that idea

I am glad to see it go for Bernie this year, but I still can't move past the racism we encountered when we went there 8 years ago to campaign for Obama.

Plus, my bf has a pretty solid argument that the creation of WV as a state actually violated the Constitution, because the territory was taken from VA without its consent. That said, I don't want it to go back to Virginia because doing so would likely turn the state red again.

19. Virginia was in a state of treasonous secession when West Virginia departed.

Seems to me that Virginia had abandoned its own rights as a state under the federal Constitution when it chose to secede and remove itself from the governance of said Constitution. Abe Lincoln agreed with that theory. You don't get to give up your statehood and then bitch about your rights as a state being violated.

6. That's nice.

When statewide Democratic officials support the Democratic nominee (didn't in 2008 or 2012) I'll be impressed.

10. They didn't support Obama.

"Democrat" down there is an elastic term.

http://www.mediaite.com/online/west-virginias-democratic-governor-wont-endorse-president-obama/

I really don't care what the 'Democrats' in WV have to say about national affairs.

This guy got as much support in the 2012 primary as Hillary got against Bernie:

8. Abolish them, end them, along with caucuses

Neither are democratic and neither have a place in our party.

But I believe in open primaries, and I don't know your position on that.

17. It should be super simple for people to switch back and forth

I do think Dems should pick the Dem nominee - however - if somebody (Indy, Green, whatever) feels strongly enough about being part of choosing the Dem nominee, we should make it very easy for this to be done. Deadlines for switching NO MORE than 14 days before voting day. No other hoops, circles, etc.

Only want to be a Dem for 2 weeks, one day, a couple hours? Fine by me. Switch back the second after you vote. It's all good. Everyone's invited to the party, all we ask for is an RSVP.

14. Another issue that does not matter

Superdelegates have never overturned the votes of the pledged delegates in the democratic primary.
