I arrived at my location before sunrise and found that at least a half a dozen folks had done the same. But I fell asleep in the car and when I woke up the sun was up and there was a line of folks waiting. It was a very breezy morning. The line was silent. A strong gust hit and in my nervousness I said: "I feel the winds of change a blowin'...do you?" to the person next to me in line. There was an eruption of laughs. It was one of the greatest days of my life.

And go when there is no line. Oh, the perks of living across the street from my polling place.

Polling place just a few blocks from my home. This way, no matter what, I have voted.

but this year I think I might go around 8AM-ish.

I moved very recently so I will have to travel further to my poll site (I used to live only 2 blocks away).

its always the same. I always ask about the turn out in my district & neighboring district...they always tell me. When I was young we used to have register voter sheets so we knew how many people voted or didn't. We used the numbers to redouble our calling. I worked on many local campaigns for my uncle and other Dems. Hard to break a habit.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
