2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHow do I start a petition to get Bernie off his ego trip and give it up?
He is turning into such a joke. It's sad. He basks in the glow of the crowds and thinks people want him to stay in. When the truth is, no one is paying any attention to him anymore and he will be a sad caricature of himself by the time the convention comes around -- and he will be booed.

(1,415 posts)He ran, he did well, he lost by every conceivable measure, and it was not close. At this stage, all candidates drop out and support their opponent and unite the party. This is embarrassing. Enough!

You know what, I seriously doubt Bernard Sanders give a rats ass what you think.

(587 posts)..it's all about him. It's always been all about him.
That the voters have rejected his platform and him as the nominee doesn't matter.
That it would be better for the party doesn't matter.
That it would be better for HRC doesn't matter.
That it would be better for America doesn't matter.
All he cares about is what he wants. Nothing else matters.

(24,324 posts)It has never been about himself. It is not about ego.
He is doing what he does for all human beings. This is what makes him so rare as a politician.
If you knew anything about him, you would certainly understand this.

However, please note that most Bernie supporters DO want him to stay in, and not the least because Hi11ary is STILL under investigation by the FBI.
Why don't you reserve your energy to support your candidate instead of snarkily slamming Senator Sanders?

(11,417 posts)Everything he says in his stump speach he said on that show and he's been saying it for years.
Where I think Bernie is wrong is that he says a revolution will change the party. Yet because he didn't win people refuse to vote in the general.
.
Only if we get more power in Washington can change happen.
His followers don't know how that works. They think going to a rally and online polls give them power.

(3,999 posts)Frankly, anyone who thinks BS is motivated by ego does not really understand the man or the passion others feel for him. Perhaps if you were less personally invested, you would have clearer vision.
My advice: If you want to start a petition, start a petition.

The only bad thing about it is that you won't have so much time to post on DU. Oh well, have fun.

(1,214 posts)Nobody saw his campaign as an honest effort to restore power to voters, because nobody in the capital even knows what that is. In the rules of palace intrigue, Sanders only made sense as a kind of self-centered huckster who made a failed play for power. And the narrative will be that with him out of the picture, the crisis is over. No person, no problem.[/div class="excerpt"]

What's sad is the amount of allegedly average voters who identify with a party elite that see them as a problem to be managed instead of citizens to be represented.

Thee is a process. Let it work, let it play out. Sorry if that's inconvenient or distasteful for you but it's there for a reason.
This primary season, and the general election, is not about what pleases tgards79.

(12,482 posts)Bernie has lost. It is over. He said he woulds stay in until the convention and that ia fine. He wants to make structural changes that are generally good and he represents a large group of voters.
Like you said. Nobody is paying him any attention and neither should you.
