Sometimes the Democratic candidates win and sometimes they lose.

That's clear from history. Democrats are more progressive than Republicans, overall. When Democrats are in power, the country tends to move forward, in social justice areas, at least. Economic issues are more complicated, but the country generally prospers better overall when Democrats are in charge, too.

The USA flip-flops between parties with considerable regularity. That's the nature of our voting population. It doesn't like big changes much. That scares them. It's something to keep in mind every four years.

So, we'll be nominating Hillary Clinton in 2016, rather than Bernie Sanders. Democrats will go on the ascendant path, and we'll get the Senate back, almost certainly, and pick up enough seats in the House to make a majority possible in 2018. Hillary will win.

She's not the most progressive of the two candidates. No question about that. But, she's OK on those social issues. The economics are uncertain. But on many, many issues of concern to ordinary people, she'll do right by the voters. We won't lose Social Security, the additional health insurance eligibility, same sex marriage, reproductive choice and some other issues, and women will probably get a boost from her term(s) in office. We'll get a higher minimum wage, but maybe not $15. Hard to say, really. That will depend on how we do in Congress. We'll get a couple of decent SCOTUS justices who won't screw things up for us all. We may even get some decent gun control for things like assault-style weapons.

She won't be Donald Trump. That's enough. I'm good with that for 2016. She won't be Ted Cruz, either, who scared the shit out of me.

My suggestion: Go to the polling place in November and vote for Hillary. You'll be glad you did, if you stop and think about it for a minute. The alternative isn't Bernie Sanders. The alternative is unthinkable. Then, go find some progressives for Congress in 2018. We can move things forward, but it's not going to be a "one fell swoop" thing. It never was going to be that.

N.B. - I'm out of here for a couple of hours, starting right now, so I won't be able to respond to replies until about 6:30 PM PDT. Then, I'll be back to chat back with whoever bothers to post in this thread.

Terrible alternative, just bad candidates falling off the GOP Clown Car.
