http://www.inquisitr.com/3220132/wikileaks-issues-torrent-insurance-encrypted-file-with-dead-mans-switch/WikiLeaks has issued an encrypted file for download as a kind of torrent insurance ahead of its public release of potentially damning documents. As previously discussed on Inquisitr, Guccifer 2.0s hack of the DNC servers have already revealed possible collusion between the Hillary Clinton campaign, the mainstream media, and Democratic Party leadership.
While the DNC has neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of these preliminary releases, WikiLeakss torrent insurance prior to the actual document dump could indicate the presence of damaging evidence on Clinton, and possibly even the Obama administration.
Famed government whistleblower Edward Snowden tweeted out a message regarding the data breach, noting its significance for more than just the documents themselves.
Significance is more than docs. Hacktivists, possibly state-sponsored, now demonstrating intent and capability to influence elections.

(1,642 posts)The OP talks about a serious matter. You relate it to arachnids.
If ideas offend you, try hiding in the Hillary group where they cannot reach you.

(9,253 posts)WikiLeaks just released a mysterious filed labeled WIKILEAKS INSURANCE for people everywhere to download in advance of a huge upcoming announcement. This file serves as a type of deadmans switch that is currently encrypted. WikiLeaks will release a second encryption key to unlock the file if they are prevented from making a planned announcement. Because of previous statements made by WikiLeaks and Julian Assange, many people are wondering if this insurance file is meant to ensure that WikiLeaks can release potentially damaging information about Hillary Clinton.
<edit>
Its important to note that at this point in time, we have no idea what is contained in the upcoming file or when it will be released. But since most of Assanges comments to press recently have been about information he has on Clinton, thats where most people are focusing their theories.
Some are wondering why WikiLeaks hasnt just released the information already. Part of the reason may concern news cycles and making sure the release isnt overshadowed by other national news happening at the same time. Part of the reason may also be related to when WikiLeaks received the file. The organization often combs through files to redact any sensitive information that might put lives in danger. The INSURANCE file is typically the unredacted version.

(90,552 posts)Bernie lost. Hillary won.
After 25 years of Right Wing war against her, Hillary has a spine of steel. For whatever reason, she has always caused a certain type of RW male to clutch at his delicate parts when her very name is mentioned.
Apparently some others are similarly afflicted. So bring it on.

How often have we been told in world-weary tones that Wikileaks has revealed nothing new - especially by those who want to appear to be in the know? Here is an aide-mémoire of a few of the highest profile revelations.

Since 2006, whistleblower website WikiLeaks ? has published a mass of information we would otherwise not have known. The leaks have exposed dubious procedures at Guantanamo Bay ? and detailed meticulously the Iraq War's unprecedented civilian death-toll ? . They have highlighted the dumping of toxic waste in Africa ? as well as revealed America's clandestine military actions in Yemen and Pakistan ? .
The sheer scope and significance of the revelations is shocking. Among them are great abuses of power, corruption, lies and war crimes. Yet there are still some who insist WikiLeaks has "told us nothing new". This collection, sourced from a range of publications across the web, illustrates nothing could be further from the truth. Here, if there is still a grain of doubt in your mind, is just some of what WikiLeaks has told us:
SNIP...
The Obama administration worked with Republicans to protect Bush administration officials facing a criminal investigation into torture (see Mother Jones ? )
SNIP...
More than 66,000 civilians suffered violent deaths in Iraq between 2004 and the end of 2009 (see the Telegraph ? )
SNIP...
The British government promised to protect America's interests during the Chilcot inquiry into the Iraq war (see the Guardian)
The US government was acting on behalf of GM crop firm Monsanto in 2008, when the US embassy in Paris advised Washington to start a military-style trade war against any European Union country which opposed genetically modified (GM) crops (see the Guardian)
Pfizer tested anti-biotics on Nigerian children, contravening national and international standards on medical ethics (see Medical News Today)

Gee. No wonder they want to shut up Assange and the Internet he rode in on.

(8,028 posts)...when things like prisoner torture, such as that at Abu Ghraib, and other government and corporate malfeasance mattered to DUers; those days and years before it became a single goal, hive minded echo chamber?
Ah, the good old days... when diversity and difference of opinion at DU was treated with curiosity and respect.

Pugsley's bedroom, lol. I'm not sure that's Pugsley in the picture. It might be a neighbor...
