New Poll Shows Hillary Clinton Holding Edge on Donald Trump

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/21/us/politics/hillary-clinton-donald-trump-monmouth-poll.html?_r=0

Hillary 47
Trump 40
----------

Broad support from women and minority voters has helped Hillary Clinton open an early lead over Donald J. Trump nationally, according to a new poll released on Monday.

A Monmouth University survey found that 47 percent of registered voters back Mrs. Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, while 40 percent support Mr. Trump, the Republican Party’s standard-bearer. The survey is the latest in a succession of recent polls that show Mrs. Clinton having an advantage, as Mr. Trump’s campaign has sputtered amid internal strife and an array of provocative public comments.

“Clinton has the advantage as the general election campaign kicks off, particularly in key swing states,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, in a statement. “However, all signs point to 2016 turning out the most polarized electorate in memory.”

The lack of diversity that comprises Mr. Trump’s core supporters has become a problem for his general election prospects. The poll found Mrs. Clinton drawing the support of 72 percent of minority voters and 57 percent of female voters. Mr. Trump holds more modest leads among men and white voters.

Mrs. Clinton is also winning in swing states that were decided by less than seven points in 2012.

Hillary vs Bernie. Using 2 "unusual" polls with "weird" polling mythology which said that Bernie was ONLY down by 1-2 points. Living here in California, I knew what the real deal was, and that Hillary would have a comfortable win over the Senator, and as we KNOW she DID. So of course, the media would love to continue sticking with that "it's a horse race" between Hillary and tRump, even if electoral college numbers and polling numbers show something different. Tell you something, I do hope Hillary, Dems & Co. run the GE race like they're 10 points behind to keep them all sharp on on their toes and going continually after tRump whenever possible.

Way too many problems in his campaign. TPTB will find a way to force him out.

Many of my Republican co-workers are indicating they will abstain and hope that Trump loses. They are of the opinion that the damage Trump might do if he ever got into the White House, is many times worse than waiting for one more election cycle to find the right candidate.

(especially women) will not vote for Trump no matter what. It won't matter to Hillary as she will win NJ but it's great for local down ticket.

"Many of my Republican co-workers are indicating they will abstain..."

Me too. I live in TX and every co-worker who's not voting for Clinton has told me they're not voting at all. I'm hoping this is a trend. If GOP voters stay home and Democrats vote, we could conceivable change red states to blue due to their apathy.

While it's a worthy cause, for sure. The likelihood of Utah turning blue is about as likely as the Pope performing a gay marriage rite.

You have to realize what an anomaly Harry Reid is as a Mormon Democrat. The rest of the (literally) card carrying Mormons have been indoctrinated over the evils of the liberals and their wanton women and dangerous pro-choice agenda. I do give you that down ticket (more local) items will be a good fight. After all, Salt Lake City just recently elected an openly lesbian Mayor!!!!!!! We have some serious down ticket work that can be done, but I don't think Utah's electoral votes will go to Hillary.

Jeebus... factoring in THE worst candidate the GOP could throw out there HRC is only managing a 7 point spread... and the +/- that makes it WORSE...

Folks aren't getting past historic unfavorables for both candidates and that needs to be addressed
