How much money do you actually need to keep a campaign afloat?

As we all now know, #Trumpsopoor that he's got less than a mill on hand to keep his campaign going.

We know he hasn't made any ad buys. Maybe that's...strategic? I know, lol, but maybe he's keeping his powder dry until later in the election season?

But what else costs money? How much does it cost to put on a rally? To hire security? To keep his 30-man skeleton crew running? To fly around in planes?

Is it possible the Trump candidacy will declare bankruptcy? Can he keep this thing going with so little money? I've never seen a presidential campaign in this bad shape financially. Do we know of any other candidates this broke who went on to win?

The media will now turn on Trump now that they have positioned him as the front runner. He's going to continue to get lots of free coverage - just the wrong kind!

In campaign terms, not much. Probably keep it going for 10 million or less. Can't do much of course. And of course since he can fund as much as he wants from his own pocket, his normal lifestyle costs can keep him moving around a fair bit.

does not require the transportation and lodging of a campaign entourage. Very expensive stuff.

You're right, he can't drag along anywhere near the campaign staff of any "real" campaign. You'll know there is serious trouble when his family members start taking over campaign staff roles. But he can travel around quite a bit, and a SuperPac or two could fund the "events".
