It's a punishment, of sorts.

I'm joking, of course, but it would make more sense than sending him back to a job he openly loathes because they think he's still the guy for the job.

I am just amazed at everything Rubio said about hating the Senate, that Florida at this point in time shows him leading

He's running for a job that he is on the record of dismissing and not showing up to. I expect an ad blitz to hit him hard on that.

Then he has to walk the tight rope of dismissing Trump since he's a racist bigot and then appeasing Trump since he needs his voters as well.

He's damaged goods and he's walking on a tight rope.
