2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTim Kaine, like Joe Biden, personally opposes abortion but is also against criminalizing it.
That is the position, and it is an ok position to have. He is Catholic and has that belief. But that doesn't mean he thinks the government should outlaw it or criminalize it. He doesn't.
So enough on this. Plus, there are MANY more issues. Tim Kaine is a VERY good VP choice in the big picture. Most of all, he is very well qualified to be president. Others, like Warren and Castro, are better where they are and are much less prepared than Kaine.

Nope, not good enough.
Wouldn't settle for the one. Why should we settle for the other? What is it about it being ok to throw people under the bus as long as a politician promises not to criminalize their existence or activities?

Still, I would like to see someone in our leadership with the same rabid dog zeal in FAVOR of a woman's right to choose as what we see against it on the right.
To me, and maybe it's just how I'm using the word, preventing the GOP from doing something like this falls into the category of tolerating...he's reacting to their initiative and I agree that he's reacting in the appropriate way.
I would like to see his initiative. I appreciate that he's pro choice in his head (and that puts him way above just about every R) but I want to see someone in leadership who has pro choice in their hearts too. Head is fine for followers but he needs it in his heart to be my leader.

(4,451 posts)a score of 100% is more than "good enough." In my opinion.

(6,346 posts)I have a sense that getting a 100% from NARAL is a lot easier than, for example, getting a 100% from the NRA. Hell...you practically have to cook breakfast on your AK-47 or AR-15 to get a 100% from them. My sense, and it's only opinion, is that they demand (and get) completely and active loyalty.
I don't get that same sense on the choice topic. I'm not sure if this it true but it feels like a leader can be a passive supporter and still get a 100%. They do what they're asked.
Anyway, just my two cents. If Kaine is the choice, he's got my vote even if I long for more.

We have 50 million people on the west coast. Most of us are strongly pro choice. We support things like marijuana legalization. How about someone that appeals to OUR values?
