Thirty-nine percent of voters nationwide said they would be more likely to vote for the Democratic ticket if Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders were on it, according to a new poll from Monmouth University.
The poll tested six potential Democratic and six potential Republican vice presidential picks, and Sanders was the only name to stand out from the pack. Among undecided voters, a whopping 50 percent said they would be more likely to support the Democrats if its a Clinton-Sanders ticket. I don't follow your logic. Which is more important? His age, or the fact the Dem ticket gets more voters?

(21,111 posts)I am a Bernie supporter but a lot of people my age (60) that I know were afraid because he was older and Don the con would beat him. I still think Bernie could have kicked his a$$.

All 3 candidates are well up there in years.

(11,982 posts)I would be happy with either, but in terms of qualifications, how is Warren more qualified than Sanders? If nothing else, he has more experience...

(5,443 posts)Perhaps the most important duty of VP is to help win the election, that's why they are often chosen from key swing states. According to this poll, the decision is a no-brainer.
Warren only brings 24%. Kaine and Castro very little. Why not have this Clinton/Sanders ticket? Bernie being Bernie will fight for progressive principles and be a constant source of leftward pressure on Clinton. It is really a dream ticket, because Bernie will continue to get the national attention to advance his revolution, while at the same time bringing in more votes for the ticket. I think Bernie would go for it, because to have a revolution you have to be practical, and he will not budge from his positions. Okay, Clinton may find Sanders to be a difficult choice, but she will only benefit from having a different point of view in her ear.
Also. Sanders is old enough, that he may only serve one term, which would give someone younger a chance to be President in waiting in 2024.
