As party leader, this platform is essentially her platform because she has a plurality of votes on the committee plus a great deal of collaboration and cooperation from the DNC's appointees. In all likelihood nothing passed or was shot down that wasn't preapproved by her or believed to be solidly in line with her goals.

...it was already in the platform language.

Redundant language offered by Sanders representatives on the $15 minimum wage was REJECTED by a majority of the committee.

"We believe that Americans should earn at least $15 an hour and have the right to form a union."
-- D platform draft

Karen Finney ?@finneyk 17h17 hours ago
$15 minimum wage was ALREADY in the platform, what failed was an amendment with language tweaks.

Karen Finney ?@finneyk 17h17 hours ago
The $15 minimum wage is in the platform, as is Bernie language about $7.25 being a starvation/poverty wage

The platform originally simply stated that the Democratic Party hopes to “raise and index the minimum wage,” with an earlier implication that this could be $15. Ellison proposed that the language be made clearer and stronger, changed from mere support to a demand to “raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and index it.”

“It’s important to recognize that $15 an hour really is actually not even what the minimum wage would be if we indexed it from 1968. It would probably be upwards of $22,” Ellison stressed.

He also emphasized that it is important to index the minimum wage for inflation, “so that we don’t have to come back every Congress to raise it again.”

Paul Booth, an official in the AFSCME labor union who was appointed by Clinton, insisted “the language that we already have is exactly what we need.”

While bringing up the specter of Donald Trump, Booth acknowledged the Fight for 15 movement and applauded the “gutsy” workers fighting for an increase in the minimum wage and the right to organize the union. Yet he still opposed Ellison’s amendment.

Booth claimed the language suggests that the Democratic Party supports moving toward a $15 minimum wage, but added, “we affirm and support different ways of getting there in different states.”

This comment appears to reflect the position of Clinton, who has said different states should establish unique minimum wages

And it's what all progressives should seek. $22 is slightly rounded up, but is where we should be targeting.

edit: indexing the minimum wage has been the Democrat's position for a decade and a half. Not controversial. not revolutionary. Elect Democrats, it happens.

You imply that Wall Street is really calling the shots, yet we have a $15 minimum wage and strong support for unionization, which goes against what Wall Street is typically seen as wanting.

I don't understand this need to see that we are all downtrodden and helpless because of some amorphous enemy named "Wall Street".
