I hope they run on policies and not a gender ticket. I am all for a woman president, vice president, etc. but in this particular case they need to make policies the focus. An all female ticket is awesome and I will vote for them but I'm afraid it may turn people away if they make gender the main focus. For true equality it shouldn't be about their gender anyways. It should be about their qualifications which they both have and in fact are stacked with MUCH more than Chump. Don't get me wrong, womens equality should be a part of their talking points and their policies but not the main focus. We have some big fish to fry on all fronts.

(561 posts)I understand what you are saying, of course they have to focus on the issues/policies, but at the same time, why should it be any different for two women to focus on the issues/policies? They are more than capable. They only drawback I can see in this case, is losing Warren's senate seat, I understand a republican governor will get to pick her replacement, but doesn't a special election have to be held as well? Considering the state, wouldn't it be an easy win for a Democrat? Would to love see these two on a ticket together, they were on fire today.

(241 posts)It's not different. And that is my point. It shouldn't be different. But we saw moments where people accused Bernie Sanders of being sexist and not wanting a woman to be president just because he stayed in the race. That is what we need to avoid because it absolutely turns people away especially when it's not true.

(241 posts)My point is they are both very well qualified and that should be more important than their gender.

(2,900 posts)President or Vice President, regardless of gender. Their age and life experience has a lot to do with that, but also their resumes made during their lives.
With the possible exception of Jefferson or Madison, coming to the White House now makes them very highly qualified.
It would be my dream ticket. And now, to go full sexist: even I will buy a pantsuit when they get elected.

(14,040 posts)I watched/listened to today's rally speeches and not once was the "gender" card played.
So gender will be an issue only to those that make it one.

Their gender is the icing on the cake.
