We need a President Hillary Clinton, so we need a Vice President Elizabeth Warren!

I've read a lot of reasons people put forth as to why HRC should or shouldn't pick a certain person for her VP nominee. It is obvious that no one candidate is going to be perfect in every way one could hope for.

That being said, it really is important for the nominee to be intelligent, insightful of our government and world issues, well-spoken, quick-thinking during conversations/debates/questioning, and able to partner with HRC effectively in the VP role, BUT it is also very, very important, even and maybe especially in this race, for the VP nominee to bring passion, enthusiasm and a character of sincere trustworthiness to the Democratic ticket. He or she really does need to promote by example a fairness to all Americans, especially powerful to the vast numbers that understand our economy and societal structures haven't been working in their favor for a long time.

I say this as a southern, white male who has been for Hillary since day one, though many around me are not. I say this as one who thinks Obama will be remembered as one of our greatest presidents, even though there were definite areas he could have done more. I believe in Hillary and for her concern and desire for equality, fairness and justice for all. I think she has shown this in the issues she has chosen to focus her life on and in her attempts to move those issues forward. I sense this even in the stumbles she has had and the choices she regrets. And I see it in her face when she speaks about her nation and her fellow Americans who are struggling.

Yet, I don't doubt others who have found this sentiment in Bernie or other candidates instead. What I need in Hillary is to choose a VP who best further exemplifies these ideals, can put forth his or her vision for us all through inspiration, and who can be a successful partner in her fights to make America continually better.

Hillary, please pick Senator Elizabeth Warren. I see in her a gift that I just can't find in other talked about choices. Others may be genuine and sincere and experienced, but our country needs two Democratic leaders who speak to our needs, take action on our behalf, and inspire our better selves. We need to believe in both of you, and it is a short window of time between your choice being made and our citizens making their choice in November to become familiar and convinced by your choice and your reasoning for her or him. Sen. Warren has the integrity, experience and vision to pass this test immediately. There is no ticket this year that could do that better than Hillary Clinton for President and Elizabeth Warren for Vice President, together. The fact that you would turn on its head the long history of US governing by same-gendered male US presidents and vice-presidents is just icing on the cake. But some of the most flavorful icing I could hope to taste!

She is desperately needed in the US Senate where she can do some real good, not as a ceremonial position with a gavel and a tie-breaking vote.

Period!

Her seat in the Senate will remain ours after the quick special election in Mass, and she can control the narrative much more thoroughly as VP than as just another Senator. Most importantly though, I sincerely believe that she is the best person to govern the USA if anything should happen to Clinton.

You forget, the Vice Presidency is not ALWAYS a merely ceremonial position. Ask Lyndon Johnson or Gerald Ford. Sometimes bad things happen to Presidents. We need the absolute best person to take the reins of the nation in that position. We are not irresponsible idiots like John McCain, choosing our VPs to score political points and not worrying about their integrity, intelligence, and ability to govern. And frankly, choosing a super liberal VP like Warren will hopefully deter right-wing crazies who might try to harm our President. Knowing that someone who is even MORE liberal than Clinton will succeed her? Yeah, they won't be so eager to do anything stupid.

In addition, the Vice Presidency is traditionally a springboard to the Presidency, which I desperately hope Senator Warren decides to pursue in 8 years. I adore the woman. I am also really fond of the idea of her having Secret Service protection for life. Again...in this day and age of mass shootings and gun hysteria, I want our most precious liberal voices protected as thoroughly as possible and at all times.
