2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAttacks on Bernie are just as much "refighting the primary" as attacks on HRC.
BOTH need to stop.
It's over already.

(4,494 posts)is an example of "refighting the primaries"?
It would appear that Clinton has won the California primary
The topic starter here claims it is; I disagree.

(4,494 posts)so, I am asking for an objective assessment. Did my thread constitute "refighting the primaries", in your opinion?

(16,974 posts)But I did not see a link to a single post in the OP either.

(58,785 posts)of the process right now. It is appropriate to discuss his actions.
I just wish the discussion were more thoughtful and principled and less hostile. He has a right to campaign, just as Ralph Nader had a right to. Motivations, judgment, responsibility, and morality can be questioned, but the right itself exists independent of any possible effect on others.

(19,877 posts)No. And he spends a lot of precious time still attacking the Democratic Party.

(17,751 posts)I see the Dem party platform committee stiff-arming the Bernie committee member's items.
Stupid move, imo, to alienate such a large percentage of Dem voters.

(4,494 posts)"But Sanders struck a different tone in 2008, when he told his hometown newspaper, the Burlington Free Press in Vermont, that he planned to play a very active role in supporting Obama.
I will do everything I can to see that he is elected president, he said at the time.
That interview was published on June 5, 2008, two days after the last Democratic contests but two days before Clinton suspended her campaign.
The story also noted that Sanders said he held off supporting either of the Democrats because he has made it a custom not to support any Democrat for the presidential nomination until the party had chosen its nominee.
At that point, however, Obama had 1,766.5 pledged delegates and Clinton had 1,639.5, according to data from RealClearPolitics. In 2008, 2,118 total delegates were required to secure the nomination. "
Sanders takes different position on superdelegates than he did in 2008

The convention vote is a formality.
And while Bernie is free to pursue his larger non-electoral goals through whatever strategy he chooses, his decisions in that regard, insofar as the are viewed as impacting efforts to pull together to elect Clinton and defeat Trump either positively or negatively are fair subjects for praise or criticism, imo.

Clinton supporters seem remarkably sanguine about the merits of other democrats voting for her. It feels a lot more like a clique than a campaign.

(4,377 posts)Let's be clear about this, us coming together behind Hillary is dependent on some mutual respect. If you guys want to act like victorious conquerors proudly accepting a defeated rivals surrender, then we're going to have serious problems.

As for "it's over already" perhaps you should tell that to Bernie. He keeps saying it isn't and we taxpayers are paying $40K per day in SS protection to primarily feed his ego or something.

(50,254 posts)It's enough that he says he'll vote for HRC and that he'll endorse at the convention.
He doesn't need to unconditionally surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri.
