According to TPM, Her lead is down to 3 points. Against a crazy narcissist like trump! All this playing it safe, plodding along, refusal to take risks or make new policies - that was fine for a primary battle, but not for the general. She is not taking major steps to attract voters, especially the youth or former Bernie supporters. That is not a good sign.
I hope folks realize she can still lose this thing.
My nachtmare? Trump quits and is replaced by someone far less repulsive.

(45,251 posts)again, the numbers will change. Besides, this is the Presidency. The electoral vote is the only thing that matters, not a national poll that reflects only the supposed popular vote.
That said, I never recommend complacency, even if my candidate is 30 points ahead in early polls.

(99,719 posts)Every poll is a data point. Sam Wang actually deletes comments from his site that cherry pick polls, good or bad, because it represents motivated reasoning.
With that caveat Survey Monkey is a C- rated pollster:

(9,494 posts)that he whipped up and baked into existence in the endless recipe known as his presidential campaign. That may help a little.
Other than that, what would you suggest? Isn't a $15 minimum and no debt college education good enough for the "former Bernie supporters"? Doubling down on Wall Street restrictions? (all of these things she was in favor of before Bernie but she now has to pretend he thought them all up and forced her to comply)
A hundred million dollars worth of ads in swing states? Speeches and endorsements from all of the leaders of the Progressive movement (except Bernie). What more do you want? Hillary was savaged and smeared during the nominating race and she continues to be savaged and smeared in the general. I think it would have been very helpful to have had a united party these past weeks. That didn't happen and our party will pay the price. Who's fault is that?

She gives none. It is almost seems like she won't expose her ideas to the public in person.

(9,494 posts)Hillary exposes her ideas to the public in person daily in town halls and speeches and interviews. I think her campaign isn't stupid enough to expose her to endless questions about why young Democrats hate her and won't vote for her and then answer questions about every slimy smear that the GOP has used against her for 25 years.
By the way, Trump makes an ass of himself at almost every press conference. His base loves him despite the fact that he is a jackass.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. For weeks now, Hillary Clintons campaign has been engaged in a project to win over the staunchest and loudest of Bernie Sanders supporters in the places where theyll matter most in November.
Using one-on-one meetings, social gatherings, and public campaign events, Clintons operatives have been quietly working to court his backers in battleground states Sanders won during the primary or where they fought in especially contentious contests in some cases relying on personal appeals from staffers as senior as campaign manager Robby Mook.
The first return on that investment comes Tuesday when Sanders joins Clinton on stage here for the formal display of unity the partys been waiting for in advance of the July convention. In announcing the event Monday, both campaigns synchronized their press releases and shared similar language that the two former rivals will discuss their commitment to building an America that is stronger together and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top................
Recognizing such wariness, Clinton forces are turning to highly-publicized events, like phone banks and canvasses, as a potent method to win over hold-outs in targeted states. In Michigan a state where Sanders won a stunning victory over Clinton her camp held a unity event on Monday that brought together Sanders and Clinton delegates. In Iowa, backers of both candidates gathered to see former candidate Martin OMalley campaign for Clinton in late June...

I dunno, though. Polls are still mostly bullshit at this stage. I think a bit of ebb and flow shouldn't concern us.
