(86,193 posts)In nearly 30 years of following politics, I never witnessed so much as a sneeze at a Republican convention.

(69,642 posts)Looks like the delegates who don't support Trump aren't willing to "get over it" as the RNC chair told them to do this morning.

(5,276 posts)Could they go the way of the Whigs? We are moving into a bizarre stretch of history to be sure. When one of the current big two nominates a reality show bozo all bets are off.
But tens of millions will vote for this orange clown, which pretty much proves they would vote for an eggplant if it got nominated.
Thanks Faux News and Rush.

(2,433 posts)Chairman refused, said a voice vote was enough. Someone made a point of order asking for a roll-call vote, and the chairman refused that. Apparently, the anti-Trumpers wanted the Rules to contain a measure that would allow delegates to "free" their votes on the convention floor.
N.B. I'm not an expert, I'm just watching C-Span.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
