God forgive me but I'm starting to gain a certain restrained respect for Ted Cruz this a.m.
He's playing a dangerous game but the media is covering his very good speech to the Texas Republican delegates and they seem to heartily approve. This takes courage (let's face it, he has nothing to lose at this point) and he is explaining his actions pretty well. I'm sure I'll get over this but it is quite enjoyable to watch..

1. I have a hate for that man on a visceral level...
but man, I will say I respected what he did last night...it took guts. I don't know if he struck a deal or if it was pure, but it was a solid move.

3. Trump attacked Cruz's wife and his father, so it's a little insane that he expects his endorsement.
I can't stand either one of them, but I have less respect for Trump.

5. He's trying to position himself as the new Ronald Reagan.
He's at least as good of an actor as Reagan was and probably capable of more destruction than Reagan was. The GOP are dangerous, all of them.

His campaign slogan should have been "Who wants a damp hug?"

8. he doesn't deserve even restrained respect. He screwed working people over
By shutting down the government just to selfishly build his political credentials with more rightwingers. Ted Cruz only loves Ted Cruz, not the USA.

but, at least he had the guts to not toe the company line, and actually tell everybody that in front of the RNC.

20. Please do not attribute courage to Cruz.
Remember how Cruz was besties with Trump during the debates in the hopes of picking up Trump supporters when Trump disintergrated?
Cruz is able to withstand the hugh and vocal criticism of his actions (i.e. government shut down) because he believes he is ordained by God to win the presidency (Dominionist theology). So whatever he does is God's will . . . |

12. Trust me on this: that feeling of respect is temporary and will pass.
I had a twinge of respect for him, watching his speech last night. This morning, I'm back to regarding him as the evil motherfucker he is. Nice to be back in the Real World.

I can find nothing in Ted Cruz to generate any respect whatsoever. Nothing. He is a smarmy, evil little man.

Trump is a racist but economically more progressive than Cruz

21. Cruz is running again in 4 years. He's simply betting that Trump will go down in flames, and Cruz
can't afford to be associated with him when it happens. Simple lizard brain thinking. Doesn't take anything more than ego and a well honed survivor's instinct to do what he did.
Cruz scares me more than Trump. |
