3. Kaine is good likeable, he's not going to upstage Hillary, he's going to work and campaign hard.

He's what you want in a VP pick. Someone who makes the candidate shine, not himself.

8. Senate is too close to risk a seat being filled by a GOP governor.

We've got a SCOTUS seat to fill and another on the horizon. That's not possible with a GOP Senate and as the race currently sits, the likely outcome is 50-50, so picking a Senator from a state with a Republican governor is a non-starter as too risky.

New presidents have weeks, maybe months to accomplish anything before the gridlock takes over.

We almost didn't get the ACA because of Ted Kennedy's passing combined with how long it took to recount Al Franken's race.
