2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLove or loather her, you must foresee Wasserman-Schultz gaveling the convention will be a disaster!
You don't need a ouija board to forecast that there will be a shitstorm if she Debbie Wasserman-Schultz gavels in the convention.
I might choose to not to start off the convention that way if it were my choice, but it isn't my choice.
Whether you love Wasserman-Schultz or loathe her, we are all going to hate the FauxNews gloating when our convention starts off with an epic demonstration of disunity which will make the Ted Cruz speech and the "vote your conscience" floor fight last week seem like a drum circle playing Kumbaya around the campfire.

(30,347 posts)Marcia Fudge will gavel the convention in and out. Wasserman-Shultz has tendered her resignation. You can relax now.

(6,350 posts)She has been replaced as Chair for the Convention and thus will not get to use the gavel. She was forced to resign as chair of Committee effective immediately after the convention and is being replaced with Interim DNC Chair Donna Brazile. Apparently took a call from Obama to convince DWS she would be resigning.
DWS is still holding out to speak briefly at the convention. She will be loudly booed if she does. Not good TV for her.
Rumors are that there are more DNC emails on the way, apparently from earlier in the campaign.

I am conflicted because I think it is bad (really bad) for Democrats because if DWS is ever on the stage it will inspire a showing of disunity that will be the media talking point for the whole week.
On the other hand, it will be popcorn-munching dramatic and very good for Tim Canova's campaign.
On balance it would be bad for the Democratic Party, but I'm going to focus on the bright side if it happens.

(3,226 posts)I hope for the party this is media hype, on the upside this will pump up viewers for tomarow night. People will be tuning to see a wreck and instead they will hear Bernie's speach and his endorsement of Hillary.

(2,280 posts)But she's become a lightning rod. A lot of people, for whatever reason, think she is the root of all evil. And we need those people to vote for us. Get her a consulting gig somewhere. Somewhere far from the Democratic Convention.

(3,373 posts)be a bigger M$M story than Ted Cruz's speech or the "vote your conscience" Republican floor fight.

(14,274 posts)The only possible Ted Cruz comparison that could occur would be if Bernie didn't fully endorse and show support for Clinton or keeps whining that Clinton didn't win this thing by millions of votes or that she had to cheat to win.
