This is not a coronation, it's a convention

We are so used to everyone being happy with whoever was nominated, we forget conventions aren't always just nice parties..

http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/03/the-craziest-conventions-in-us-history-213727

We were upset when they silenced the anti trump faction, but hate our dissidents...Hillary IS GOING TO BE PRESIDENT..get over it!

24. Angstlessk, I agree -- when it's productive.

There are normally right ways and wrong ways to do anything.

However, the nation will at least see clips of Sanders' former and current out-of-control supporters booing him, booing many other speakers, shouting through Elijah Cummings' speech, etc.. Some even were calling for Hillary to be locked up just as those slimy Hillary haters on the right did. This will not go over well and will be remembered.

They need to get behind Sanders, remember that courtesy can also be a tool, and take his lead if they want to have power to accomplish anything but irritating people and embarrassing themselves before going home.

74. During an election year, we work to elect our nominee

Dissent is disunity and leads to a loss...we lost in 1968. What followed was hardly 'democracy'. Attacking Democrats and that is what is happening in Philly...leads to GOP victories which in this case given the age of the Supreme Court justices would destroy progressive politics and possibly 'democracy' for a generation. Democracy might not even survive Comrade Heil Trump. He reminds me of those who ran for election once and then became presidents for life. And this so called 'democracy' in action is disrespectful to Hillary Clinton voters: many who are POC. We won the primary, and it was not stolen. She had more votes. And to boo Elijah Cummings...was just beyond the pale. Most in that hall are not fit to lick his boots.

32. Yes, all of the voters.

The reason that "there has not been a contentious Democratic convention since 1968" is that since 1968 Democrats have held a primary or caucus in every state instead of letting state delegations be chosen without voter input.

In 1968 the nominee Hubert Humphrey did not complete in a single primary. In 1968 young men could be drafted to fight an unpopular war.

Those who compare 1968 to now lack perspective.

And the betrayal of the people that he allowed to be certified as delegates.

His vanity got the better of him, and he thought he could control the mob he created.

Sanders tweeted a couple of hours ago, asking his delegates not to do this. Their response was to spit in his face. Fuck them all.

JFC, this got ridiculous fast.

You've made the claim that dissent builds societies. YOU name one. But not America, as that was founded on the agreement of the Founders and those who voted on revolution to all do so together. Or any other modern democratic society, founded on the same valuesof cooperation.

Even in democracy, the concept of "dissent" is limited by the fact that all adherents of the democratic system agree to live by the results of a vote! There is nowhere like what you're claiming, where constant bickering as displayed by these immature Sanders delegates has built anything even resembling a society.

These people are acting like they are 12. I don't think they're real supporters of Bernie so much as they are anarchists and privileged little Greens who care more about their own agenda and could actually give a flying F about the country and those who will suffer under a tRump/Putin presidency. At a certain point, basic respect has to factor into it, and these delegates weren't invited with the intent of them shouting down anyone they don't like all night. Or all week, god forbid.
