Straight male from North Carolina who voted against amendment one. Though I kind of feel i need to stay here and continue the fight.

Didn't voters just put this on the ballot without the approval of the legislature? Voter referendum?

If so, why didn't Dems pass it in the legislature this year before November? That way, if the referendum failed, the law would stay in effect.

Similar to what happened in Maryland tonight, basically.

The GOP also tried the Photo ID thing because they weren't able to pass that over Dayton's veto. They also planned to do that for right to work. But we voted them out, and our new upcoming much better legislature will be able to pass it. Minnesota also does not have voter initiated referendums, only constitutional amendments are voted on. So if the legislature passes it and Dayton signs it, it's law.

I misunderstood.

I thought youmeant your legislature was already Dems. It became Dem tonight if I understand you correctly. Both chambers? Good stuff.

So we should expect to see marriage equality in MN by next year? Assuming the MN senate doesn't have the BS filibuster like the US senate does.
