(89,975 posts)The voice warbles a little more. He's 74. (Born October 13, 1941). I LOVED that choice of song, especially on a day like this - "Bridge Over Troubled Water", and that got me all choked up, but seeing and hearing him, and yeah, he's getting older, that made me cry. I'm getting older too. All those years ago - sheesh. SUCH bittersweet feelings.

I saw a story about how Paul Simon wanted to retire this year. After that performance at #DemsInPhilly I agree with him.

It would have meant single payer, not a public option.
It would have meant NO TPP in the platform.

We are being abused verbally.

Antagonizing folks is not going to unite this convention.
Everyone was up and dancing to Simon.
Perfect sequence.
She didn't antagonize anyone. She used humor to get real. I'm sure there are holdouts but she took
the air out of the pouty leftists' balloons.
She is awesome.

(110,257 posts)people by disrespecting people like Elijah Cummings?
Yurovsky
(2,064 posts)If DWS had been fired a month ago this wouldn't have been an issue.
It's unpleasant but it was also entirely avoidable. I believe you've got an echo chamber around the candidate that prevents astute outside voices from being heard. That's why I think you've seen most of the blunders to date. They're mostly self-inflicted wounds.
pnwmom
(110,257 posts)convention and impose their will on the other delegates, screaming so hard and long that the super delegates would be forced to flip the primary results.
DWS didn't encourage that delusion. Bernie should have been doing more to prepare his delegates for the reality of what they could achieve at the convention.
Yurovsky
(2,064 posts)Put air under the wings of those who were itching for a fight.
Trust me, I was right there a couple months ago. But I came to the realization that going to Philly wasn't going to change anything, and decided to not spend another minute beating a dead horse. That's why I took a DU break at the end of the primary season. I came back for the convention, not knowing this mess would explode just prior to the gavel falling.
And now I wonder what Wikileaks or the Russians or Chinese might have that would allow them to pull an "October Surprise"... Just when I was thinking Trump was going to crash & burn, these emails surface, which are bad but, IMHO not sufficient to flip the election. But what else is out there?
I'll be sleeping uneasily for the next 15 weeks, hoping that I don't see Trump giving a post-election victory speech.
pnwmom
(110,257 posts)And Trump offers so much material, and the Clinton team won't have to hack anyone to get it.

(12,529 posts)I laughed at Silverman's aside. Feeling the Bern?? Put some cream on it.
The tide is turning, the mood is far more upbeat and the majority of the convention attendees are Hillary supporters.
We're going to win this thing! Cory Booker is on now. Overwhelming cheers when Booker mentioned Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine's names.
Btw, as Democrats we can be very proud about the amazing diversity of convention attendees and line-up of speakers. This is what the country is all about: EVERYONE.

Not that I'm yelling or blaming, it was all impromptu at the moment, and no way for them to get it (and wouldn't be surprised if both realized it as soon as they got off stage) but would've been cool.

(18,124 posts)to the bernie idiots. Bernie lost, that's it. I will work for HRC's election win, vote and then I'm leaving this hateful, racist anti PoC anything country. The moment Obama won, this country got obscene in it's racism as proven by all the murders by white people of PoC. Now berniebots are showing the same kind of racist behavior ostensibly because they have the fear that is driving the hate of a lot of white people Democrat and Republican, loss of white privilege and racial supremacy, not just here, worldwide. This has become truly disgusting.
