Picture of me and my boyfriend reacting to the election -- Change from 2008 to 2012 - WOW!

Just wanted to share.

Here my boyfriend and I are 4 years ago, in 2008, when I was a McCain supporter and still in the closet.

And here's a picture of me and my longtime boyfriend watching Obama giving his victory speech in 2012.

Times change. Even sometimes, I change.

I'd like to think so! That was the year I met him, freshmen year of junior college. I am now a fifth year double major senior at a university getting ready to graduate in May. Times, they change! And I change more than he does, ha!

So happy to have you with us! Let's savor this night together! But let's NOT sit back and relax. We STILL have to remain vigilant! Bad guys lurk everywhere, seeking to take away what we've fought so hard to win.

FORWARD!!!

Coming out gay (which my boyfriend definitely helped with), leaving the evangelical nut church I was once a part of, and realizing what it's like to be a minority, what it's like to face discrimination. It just broadened my viewpoint and made me realize how wrong GOP and Tea Party style policies and ideas about people were. Plus, I was a freshman in that picture. I'm a senior now. Lots of college liberal professors brainwashing me, I tell ya!

But I'd say the most important thing is all the diversity of the friends I've met during the past four years and all the stories we've shared. I decided to open myself up to the world and... I turned out to be a liberal afterall!

...I was at the Dennis Moore victory party in Overland Park, Kansas watching the news report that Barack Obama would be our next president and hugging a middle-aged black woman who was crying uncontrollably. I'd brought my daughter and one of her friends who had voted for the very first time that day, a straight Democratic ticket. She was thrilled that she actually had a chance to meet some of the people she'd voted for. It was one of the best nights of my life. Well, Dennis Moore had to retire due to early onset Alzheimer's and Kansas has turned hard right, but last night was still a pretty darned good night as well.

There was a time where I wasn't even aware that Fox was right wing. We all change over time. I'm liberal as can be now.
Those really are great pics.
