(58,785 posts)or feels he is due more courtesy than others contributing to this convention.
On his photo thread, Skinner estimated the hard-core booers at roughly 100, most of them in a section to the left of and behind the end of the stage. Out of, what?, I've forgotten, @18,000? Whatever. He didn't seem to be too impressed or excited about it.

(11,605 posts)If people boo when he mentions Hillary, they are not booing him - they are booing Hillary. Not that it is justified - it's not - but I think the boos thus far have been for the message, not the messenger, as evidenced by the fact that they even booed when Bernie talked about her.

(4,602 posts)when someone of John Lewis' gravitas and importance speaks, the appropriate response is respectful deference.

(11,605 posts)But I also think it would be wrong to read it as booing John Lewis. Some people last night were trying to paint Bernie supporters as racists and I have yet to meet any who are. They are just angry at everyone, black and white, for what they see as a rigged primary.

(81,198 posts)There are some people who deserve the exalted ground. You don't boo John Lewis. You just don't. Doesn't matter what your cause is, or your grievance, or your issue, worthy as it may be. You simply don't boo John Lewis.

Maryland Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski and Georgia Rep. John Lewis will formally nominate Hillary Clinton for the presidency on Tuesday night, PBS NewsHour's John Yang and NPR's Mara Liasson report.
But don't be surprised if Bernie Sanders also plays a role tonight during the roll call something potentially similar to what Clinton did in 2008 for Barack Obama.

(135,425 posts)Clinton, as SECSTATE, carried OBAMA's water on that topic, not her own. That is what subordinates do--they do what their boss says. After she left State, and when she decided to run, she called BHO up and warned him that she was going to diverge from his POV--she didn't blindside him, but she went her own way.
It's a faux divide, here with these WAAH TPP signs--and all this is a matter of public record.
