2016 Postmortem

(84,320 posts)Bernie, for all his best intentions, woke up the small portion of the left that is every bit as ugly as the teabaggers. I'm accustomed to it because it's very active in the SF Bay Area. But I'm sure it shocked people in the rest of the country.

(1,786 posts)Try not to take it personally, let it roll off like water and welcome the weekend with open arms
Bernie executed the best campaign he could with class and dignity. He had a solid message with important issues that will continue going forward.
Dems have a good candidate vs trump and the party just wrapped up a solid convention. All things considered November is looking to be a favorable month. Don't let the ill advised actions of a few diminish any of that.
Hope you have a good weekend.

That's a lie.
I'll let the rest of your vicious rant stand alone as proof of unity efforts.

Randr, why not ask to be reinstated? I got bounced from the Hillary forum when something I said was misunderstood. That was back when it was under constant attack from the large SBSer majority and very fed up, but we got it fixed.

(10,943 posts)...Bernie wants Hillary to defeat Trump - and I have to agree with him! I'm sure Bernie would also like people to support progressive candidates down the line.
Thank you for your service as a delegate.

(30,481 posts)I have read many things that weren't shared on this site that they would have enjoyed as I did. Articles I thought were suited for their group. I was booted minutes after a pro-Sanders op. I do get why they did it with me. It was my posts outside of the group. Sorry you were blocked and you were backing a damn fine candidate.

The group was killed off systematically. The retaliation against the group once Hillary became the defscto nominee was epic.
No wonder people left.

(4,311 posts)I personally took the rules seriously and didn't alert on posts made before the changeover; I even checked the dates a couple of times when an OP was kicked up from before because I didn't want to alert on something if it had been made while it was still allowed. And I've never alerted on anything in the Bernie group.
But there have been several posts made in there by people I knew to be Bernie supporters throughout the primaries who wanted to take about going forward, and these were locked with a message to repost in GD or wherever. Stifling discussion no matter how you look at it.

(8,887 posts)One was a dupe, one was discussing Hillary's VP pick, one was @ starting a Facebook page of former Bernie supporters now supporting Hillary, one is discussing the.protests, another is @the media blackout of Bernie.
The only one that was actually trying to discuss activism was locked because it was a dupe already being discussed in GD.

(4,311 posts)For Bernie supporters now voting for Hillary against the TOS for the group?
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)That post was made before the convention.
You can always pm a host if you're uncertain.
Fyi, the only post in your links urging action was locked because it was a GD dupe that Autumn felt would get more attention and discussion in GD.
Hardly trying to stifle conversation.

(97,637 posts)Or are you saying alerted on and went to jury and got a hide. If you are talking jury, a post can not be alerted and sent to jury after 48 hours, unless that changed under the new system. Perhaps it did and I missed it. Surely does not seem fair to go back so far.

(4,221 posts)That $27 donation to Hillary today was my first donation to her campaign.
The $27 amount signals exactly what anyone thinks it would - I am behind her, willing to put my money and time out there for her to win, but MY first loyalty is to the populist progressive principles that were the catalyst for so, so many $27 donations to Bernie's campaign.
60% of my household income goes to student loan payments and health insurance premiums. Something has GOT to give. Those issues aren't ISSUES to me, they speak to my ability to actually stay alive, to stay afloat, and whether I will wind up homeless at over 50 years old in the next few years.
If I were to be blocked for posting that I am donating to Hillary, well, that would be insane. I worked for Bernie, was a caucus captain, congressional district delegate and county delegate for Bernie ...spent untold hours actually WORKING for votes, not just typing shit out on a forum.
So if anybody wants to block me or put me on ignore, because I'm donating to Hillary now, or conversely because I'm still barely over my Bernie or nobody phase, then have at it.
After 12 years here, I guess it'd be okay to shake things up...meaning, I've never had a hide, never put anyone on ignore, never been on ignore, never been blocked.
This place used to be my church. I was nearly inconsolable after Bush's second win - lying on the floor sobbing - I think I would have lost it without DU at that time.
I still read the Front Page and Greatest Page every single day even though I don't login much or post much anymore.
Red shirt/blue shirt team-identity animosity is a thing, a principle in psychiatry, but it's harmful and juvenile.

(12,263 posts)Bernie never issued a loyalty oath and has now pledged his support to Hillary. He doesn't tell you how to vote or how to feel, so I don't where they are taking their clues. You came to a reasonable decision, guided in part by someone you deeply trusted, and you came to the same conclusion he did. Don't let it get you down; you have no reason to feel guilty.

(3,075 posts)if that is how you're going to judge a "crowd" the Bernie Sanders Group has blocked 406 DUers. The Hillary Clinton Group has blocked 836...more than double.

(51,134 posts)There is a troll army at work disrupting the democrats. One front is to make Berners think the primaries were rigged. A bunch of unknown newbie anons suddenly appeared on the scene pretending to be into election integrity. Their agenda was too obvious, divide the dems and make the Berners sooo upset, they go home and never vote again. They were into Trump's mantra, the system is rigged. Where were they when we were working hard to have primaries instead of political bosses so a Bernie Sanders could run?
