If you want to understand Trump supporters ...

Last edited Mon Aug 1, 2016, 03:31 AM - Edit history (1)

... I think this is an excellent interview that gives some really useful insight into Trump supporters. If you are looking for something more thought provoking that what we usually post on DU, I recommend this article. The Hillary campaign ought to give some real thought to what this author says, because he raises valid points about the marginalization of disaffected whites, points that very much parallel the marginalization of other groups. The article is insightful and acknowledges the limitations of both mainstream liberal and conservative thinking.

There's no excuse for being mean-spirited and racist. The poorest American is still better off than most people in the world, and most people in the world aren't vile like Trump and his minions.

Thank you for posting the article. I guess I need to step away because obviously Trump and his supporters are starting to depress me. I will unwind and read the article you posted. Thanks again!

gridlocked by the GOP. If more people in the country bothered to show up and vote in midterms, we wouldn't have that problem in Congress.

Fuck the idea that both parties are the same. They are not.

Hopefully some will take the time to read it and not just dismiss those 'stupid, racist, asshole Trump supporters' out of hand - but of course if that's what happens then the article is pretty much right on target.

Hopefully he can do so effectively on Hillary's behalf.

as they don't (at least from my reading) seem to care where the support comes from - there seems to be a really good opportunity to reach these folks and maybe Bernie could make inroads where others can't/haven't.

11. IMO we waste too much time on these people who will not be voting for a Democrat

Sanders spent too much of his time chasing these voters in the primaries and it didn't work for him.

They listen to right wing talk radio and watch FOX all day. They are who they are because they believe the brain washing crap they see and hear on hate radio and TV.

We can and have won without them — see '08 and '12.
