New CBS News Poll: HRC: 46% Trump: 39%

Hillary Clinton has received a bump in support after the Democratic convention and has now pulled ahead of Donald Trump.

Forty-six percent of voters nationwide say they'll vote for Clinton in November, while 39 percent say they'll back Trump. The race was tied last week after the Republican convention.

When leaners are included - voters who are undecided when initially asked their vote preference but lean toward a candidate - Clinton leads Trump by six points.

Clinton also retains her lead when Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson is added.

After the conventions, Clinton has expanded her lead with women, but she still trails Trump by a large margin among men. Clinton continues to get the support of more than eight in 10 Democrats and has seen an uptick in support among liberals. The race among independents is even; Trump led among this group last week.

Trump maintains his advantage among whites without a college degree, while Clinton has an edge among whites with a degree.

Earlier this month, two-thirds (67 percent) of those who backed Bernie Sanders during the primaries said they would vote for Clinton in November. After the Democratic convention, and a motion by Sanders himself to have Clinton selected as the nominee, her support among Sanders voters has risen to 73 percent.

1. And that poll probably doesn't reflect backlash from the Putin and Khan blunders.

I still think she'll win in a landslide. Nonetheless, good news right now! Thanks for sharing!

getting above 42% in a lot of these polls while Hillary fluctuates she does get in the high 40's and even 50% in some polls.

Trump will have a much easier time winning the electoral college than the popular vote.

Especially with him not playing in Virginia and Colorado. No worries. It ain't going to happen. She'll win at least 300 electoral votes.

11. Trump had one of his sons speaking in Mississippi

if they're worried enough to send one of the "top" surrogates (a Trump kid) to Mississippi, that's not a good sign for them in general.

so he didn't have to serve his country". That is what my Republican Nam Vet husband said. On, and on, and on. He gets furious when anyone criticizes those who have served, were captured, and especially died for this country. My husband enlisted, was not drafted, at the age of 17 out of QUEENS, NY.

Then Trump had the absolute gall to criticize the mother of a slain soldier because she did not speak? If she had and broke down and cried, would he made more comments about women then? Yes, that one must have increased his support among women, whatever their party affiliation.

What the hell is this man's IQ? It also show he has no compassion for anyone. I am beginning to think there is something seriously wrong "mentally" with Donald Trump.

I'd be surprised if she got more than 80% personally--20% of his supporters were people who generally hate Democrats

And doing everything within his conceivable power to turn voters away, repudiating so called republican values one after the other so the only things left on the list are fear and racism...AND YET 39% of this country still will vote for such a person???

FUCKING GOTV people! This is the scariest News this country has ever faced, knowing that this many people will go out of their way to force such a candidate upon the rest of us. FUCK THAT!

15. Here's the scary thing about this poll - favorability
Mon Aug 1, 2016, 11:10 AM
Aug 2016

Registered voters were asked if they found Donald Trump favorable. 8% of DEMOCRATS found him favorable. On the other side, 7% of republicans found Hillary Clinton favorable. Independents don't find either of them favorable, with more than 50% each on the negative side.
