Protestors gather outside North High ahead of Clinton rally

Some three dozen protesters gathered outside Omaha North High School as attendees were still filing in the door for Hillary Clinton's campaign event.

Many were supporters of Republican congressional candidate Don Bacon and held signs that said “Ashford = crooked Hillary.” Bacon is running in the Omaha-based 2nd District against Rep. Brad Ashford, a Democrat.

Stephen Bader, a Bacon campaign volunteer, told The World-Herald that the protesters included conservatives, Libertarians and Green Party activists.

Another protester initially hesitated to say, but then acknowledged that most in the group were Bacon volunteers and interns.

Seven people held signs for the Libertarian Party or its presidential nominee, ...................


In the larger group, wearing a Hillary for Prison T-shirt, Derek Oden, 19, said he wants a candidate who stands up for liberty. He had no comment about who he would support for president, but said he was voting for Bacon over Ashford in the congressional race. — Alia Conley...........................



Mom, 2 young daughters drive from Broken Bow to see Clinton

Hailee Clark drove three and a half hours from Broken Bow to take her two young daughters to see Hillary Clinton in Omaha.

Stella, 4, and Gwyn, 2, wore American flag bandannas and white T-shirts with “Hillary for Prez” on the front and “You go girl” on the back in pink letters. The girls know “Fight Song,” a popular anthem by Rachel Platten used by the campaign, as “Hillary Clinton’s song.”

Clark had explained the historical significance of Clinton being the first woman to be a major party’s presidential nominee to the girls while they watched the Democratic National Convention last week.

When Stella saw the glass ceiling break in a video during the convention, she turned to her mother and said of Clinton: “She is a queen.”..................

Omaha North grad, former class president among first in line

Shakuan Smith and his grandmother were among the first in line for the Hillary Clinton rally, arriving about 8 a.m.

It’s no surprise that Smith is interested in politics – he served as Omaha North High School’s class president. Smith, 18, graduated in May and hopes to become a U.S. senator someday.

He said Clinton has done a good job of persevering and staying above the negative comments.

“It’s history in the making,” Smith said. “She’s pushed what a woman can do in government.”..........................

Not in play, but I am all for expanding the map for the future and a tally with Buffet gets national headlines.

50 state strategy and with what Bernie supporters might do locally can really set the country up well for the next 50 years. Get active, get involved. The next city counsel people will be the next mayor will be the next state reps will be the next Governor will be the next Senator or President.

OMAHA, Neb. —Hillary Clinton arrived at Omaha North High School for a campaign event Monday, ............................

Just as he did when she spoke at Sokol Auditorium in December, Warren Buffett brought her on stage and spoke before her, although this time she came to Omaha having secured the Democratic nomination.


"Unlike what Mr. Trump says, America is great," Buffett said, before the packed crowd began a USA chant.



"These are important points that he's made, and it's important that you hear the answer on them," Buffett said. "The first point was when he was asked about revealing his income tax returns, which every presidential candidate has done for 40 years. He said, 'None of your business,' which did not go over so well. And then he started giving various explanations, and one of the explanations was that he had given his financial statement to the election commission and listed his assets and liabilities, but believe me, as someone who's filled out financial statements and someone who's filled out an income tax return, I can tell you they are two very different animals.

"And you will learn a whole lot more about Donald Trump if he produces his income tax return, and so that's why I'd like to make him an offer. An offer I hope he can't refuse. Donald Trump, Donald Trump, at one point, he says various things at different times but at one point -- and he said it several times -- is that he can't do it, can't release it, because he's under audit. Now I've got news for him. I'm under audit too. And I would be delighted to meet him any place, any time between now and election. I'll bring my tax return, he can bring his tax return. Nobody is going to arrest us, it is not, there are no rules against showing your tax returns and just let people ask us questions about the items that are on there."
