Its the so called rule 9. If a nominee drops out after the convention they can either have a new convention or simply choose a nominee by a majority vote of the gop commitee.

it is majority vote, but each state gets the same number of votes it had at the convention.

And there is no known mechanism (that anybody has found) to remove him as the GOP presidential candidate.

There is no way to force him out. I am wondering however if he could be bought. What if the Kocks, adelson etc.. decide to pony up money to entice him to drop out ? I am sure Trump could come up with a bullshit excuse like bad health or that he thinks the system is rigged, etc..

There's no mechanism for that to happen except if he withdraws or dies or gets incapacitated, which is not likely to happen.

GOP is stuck with him.

Next week something like five states join that list.

By October, his name appears on all ballots.
