No, Jill Stein, WiFi Isnt Cooking Our Childrens BrainzzzzBy Fare la Volpe - August 7, 2016 - 12:07pm
Greetings once more, dear readers! Its that time of the week for the Snake Oil Bulletin!
This week we continue our ongoing theme of examining the anti-science beliefs of the various frontrunners and also-rans of this three-ring election cycle. Originally we were planning to look at Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party and his beliefs on mandatory vaccines (spoiler: he no like), but Green Party Jill Stein made the ill-advised decision speak into a microphone again, and as it was last time, the result was terrible for science.

(26,795 posts)Uh-oh. Not another diatribe about the dangers of our modern communication systems? Obviously, these devices and the resulting fields are extremely (and increasingly) common in modern society. Even if we want to, we cant eliminate our exposure, or our childrens, to RF/EMF. But, we may need to limit that exposure, when possible.
That was among the conclusions of a controversial survey article published in the Journal of Microscopy and Ultrastructure entitled Why children absorb more microwave radiation than adults: The consequences. From an analysis of others studies, the authors argue that children and adolescents are at considerable risk from devices that radiate microwaves (and that adults are at a lower, but still significant, risk). The following points were offered for consideration:

This is not a call to throw out all electronic devices. However, at the very least, it should open up the discussion about different safety levels for adults versus children. Hopefully more longitudinal studies will be done to verify or contradict the assumptions so far. In the meantime, are the governments current regulations adequate? The exposure levels they warn against havent seem to have been updated for more than 19 years.

But, short of that worst-case scenario, the topic certainly merits more scrutiny, and perhaps some common sense limits on what devices our children use, and for how long.

(56,582 posts)2B means every single scenario we've tested it in hasn't caused cancer, but it's possible that exposure while on fire and riding a donkey would cause cancer, and since we can't rule that out it's 2B.

But I digress.
Stein associates herself in the Green party with kooks and cranks that swallow hook line and sinker every single anti-American conspiracy theory they read on the internet. They also tend to really LOVE the woo! Putin's network RT is happy to supply Greens with a wealth of this material while praising their candidate and flattering her with kind attention, were she can always be found on the front page. Comrade Stein spends so much time at RT she probably has her own office.
