Rubio's Lead in Florida Evaporates as GOP Struggles to Overcome Trump Slump

Marco Rubio's lead in the Florida Senate race has evaporated, making him the latest down-ballot Republican to slump as voters register increasing dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released Friday.

Incumbent Republican Senate candidates in the three key swing states surveyed — Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio — all polled better than Trump, the survey showed. But in Florida and Pennsylvania, both considered crucial to the party's efforts to maintain control of the Senate, the races are now too close to call.

"At this stage of the campaign, Republican U.S. Senate candidates may be running against their own presidential nominee, Donald Trump, as much as they are against their Democratic opponents," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Murphy is spending a lot on ads and Rubio is being attacked from all sides.

We need low Republican turnout. The real problem is that much of the I-4 corridor has proven dependable for Republicans. I don't think the Bible Belt is going to show up in the numbers they have in the past. And many of the heavy population centers have been growing and becoming even stronger blue. That includes places along the I-4 corridor.

The Kochs are heavily investing in reelecting their man Rubio and have a major TV ad buy scheduled to start at the end of this month. Plus whatever other dark-money investments are being made.

We're just going to have to slap them down yet again.

Conservative groups seem to be waiting for the primaries to end. So much of it is about Trumps turnout.

The Kochs have gotten their heads handed to them by the voters a few times before, their name mostly toxic now that more know something about what they're up to.

HE will lose. Also, Florida has a long history of 1-term Republican Senators. They get elected in off-year elections and then get booted in Presidential years.

It's a big thing in Florida. That's why we can never seem to shake our Republican Governors. Those elections always happen in 0ff-years.
