The coming storm of sexism. Being President while female:

It will be much worse after she's elected is the gist of the article. Please don't alert because the author used the word bitch. It's an excellent piece and very PRO HRC.

A Hillary Clinton presidential victory promises to usher in a new age of public misogyny.

Get ready for the era of The Bitch.

If Hillary Clinton wins the White House in November, it will be a historic moment, the smashing of the preeminent glass ceiling in American public life. A mere 240 years after this nation’s founding, a woman will occupy its top office. America’s daughters will at last have living, breathing, pantsuit-wearing proof that they too can grow up to be president.

A Clinton victory also promises to usher in four-to-eight years of the kind of down-and-dirty public misogyny you might expect from a stag party at Roger Ailes’s house.

You know it’s coming. As hyperpartisanship, grievance politics, and garden-variety rage shift from America’s first black commander-in-chief onto its first female one, so too will the focus of political bigotry. Some of it will be driven by genuine gender grievance or discomfort among some at being led by a woman. But in plenty of other cases, slamming Hillary as a bitch, a c**t (Thanks, Scott Baio!), or a menopausal nut-job (an enduringly popular theme on Twitter) will simply be an easy-peasy shortcut for dismissing her and delegitimizing her presidency.

Either way, it’ll be best to brace for some in-your-face sexist drivel in the coming years. Despite progress in the business world, women as top executives still prompt an extra shot of public scrutiny. (Just ask Marissa Mayer or Sheryl Sandberg or Carly Fiorina.) And just as Barack Obama’s election did not herald a shiny, new post-racial America, Clinton’s would not deliver one of gender equality and enlightenment. So goes progress: Two steps forward, one step back(lash). As the culture changes, people resent that change start freaking out, others look to exploit their fear, and things can turn really, really nasty on their way to getting better.

Much more:

And, to be blunt, not all of it came/comes from those identifying themselves as being on the right.

In any case, the author is correct. It will be far more in evidence if she's elected.

it was also evident in 2008 (pro-Obama tshirts saying "Bros before Hos" were a thing)

It may blow up more, it may get a more vigorous beat down than the racism did, hope the latter but certainly recognize the strong possibility of the former

It can only get worse. Think of what Obama has endured, plus the decades of rightwing conspiracy theories that fuel the anti-Clinton crowd, then factor in the overarching misogyny and fears of powerful females in positions of authority, and the last 8 years will seem like a cakewalk.

10. "Others look to exploit their fear" is the takeaway from that article.

In my lifetime, Kennedy was a secret papist, LBJ was afraid of J.Edgar Hoover, Carter was a cowering weaking, Clinton was poor white trash, Gore was boringly stiff, Kerry was a Pink tie lover, and Obama was a secret Muslim foreigner.

Why should we expect anything less that Hillary Clinton being called a bitch?

More and more Republican women appear to be waking up. You can see it in their faces behind Trump during his speeches. Not all of them are looking lovingly at him these days. And you can't win elections without women.

The public and media will be misogynostic for sure..but in Congress, in Senate - everyone has said they can work with her, including Republicans. A whole bunch of repubs are on her side. It will be unlike Obama where everyone was against him from Day 1. She will shine there with her ability to work with everyone.

She'll still be their president and the most powerful person on Earth. Nothing will hurt these "critics" more than having to acknowledge that simple fact.

It's been true during the last eight years with President Obama and it'll be true under President Clinton.

I love reminding these haters
