WaPo - "The Hillary Clinton email story is out of control"

Thank you for this Editorial about how the MSM has been incredibly irresponsible in its reporting on this election and its effort to draw a false equivalency between Trump and Clinton.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-hillary-clinton-email-story-is-out-of-control/2016/09/08/692947d0-75fc-11e6-8149-b8d05321db62_story.html?utm_term=.4fc7cc0144b5

JUDGING BY the amount of time NBC’s Matt Lauer spent pressing Hillary Clinton on her emails during Wednesday’s national security presidential forum, one would think that her homebrew server was one of the most important issues facing the country this election. It is not. There are a thousand other substantive issues — from China’s aggressive moves in the South China Sea to National Security Agency intelligence-gathering to military spending — that would have revealed more about what the candidates know and how they would govern. Instead, these did not even get mentioned in the first of 5½ precious prime-time hours the two candidates will share before Election Day, while emails took up a third of Ms. Clinton’s time.

Sadly, Mr. Lauer’s widely panned handling of the candidate forum was not an aberration. Judging by polls showing that voters trust Mr. Trump more than Ms. Clinton, as well as other evidence, it reflects a common shorthand for this election articulated by NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick last week: “You have Donald Trump, who’s openly racist,” he said. Then, of Ms. Clinton: “I mean, we have a presidential candidate who’s deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn’t make sense to me, because if that was any other person, you’d be in prison.”

In fact, Ms. Clinton’s emails have endured much more scrutiny than an ordinary person’s would have, and the criminal case against her was so thin that charging her would have been to treat her very differently. Ironically, even as the email issue consumed so much precious airtime, several pieces of news reported Wednesday should have taken some steam out of the story. First is a memo FBI Director James B. Comey sent to his staff explaining that the decision not to recommend charging Ms. Clinton was “not a cliff-hanger” and that people “chest-beating” and second-guessing the FBI do not know what they are talking about. Anyone who claims that Ms. Clinton should be in prison accuses, without evidence, the FBI of corruption or flagrant incompetence.

Second is the emergence of an email exchange between Ms. Clinton and former secretary of state Colin Powell in which he explained that he used a private computer and bypassed State Department servers while he ran the agency, even when communicating with foreign leaders and top officials. Mr. Powell attempted last month to distance himself from Ms. Clinton’s practices, which is one of the many factors that made the email story look worse. Now, it seems, Mr. Powell engaged in similar behavior.

just keep the candidate continually off balance and hope they make a mistake, while baffling the public with a continual stream of bullshit. on the other hand, Hillary knew this was coming and is probably as prepared for it as any candidate could be - it will narrow the race, but it isn't going to decide the race.

I am sure that ANY governmental department that was scrutinized this heavily would have far more email violations. The fact that only 3 mismarked emails (which turned out not to - in any way - threaten national security) were uncovered out of 33K, convinced me that Hillary is likely one of the most honest individuals who has worked in goverment!

How partisan of him. He opened the door for this. He strategically left out pertinent information as quoted above that they would be treating her differently had they gone after her. But that is not what he said, was it? He needs walk back the crap he said.

Ugh.

Why does COMCAST, the parent company of NBC News, want to destroy America by backing Donald Trump?

it's psychopathy to the core, because their $ is worth nothing in a destroyed economy or in a nuclear bomb aftermath.

20. Germany’s 1 Percent Were Hitler’s Allies, Not his Victims

It is mistake to trust in the morality of corporations. They are instrumentalities for profit and are inherently amoral. Also, given that they are increasingly multi-national, they can increasingly survive and prosper independent of the U.S. Think of IBM providing Hitler with the means to efficiently persecute German Jews. Even with the destruction of Nazi Germany, IBM survived and thrive.

http://www.politicususa.com/2014/01/27/tom-perkins-wrong-germanys-1-percent-hitlers-allies-victims.html

Actually, Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist Party were eager to climb into bed with the German 1 percent, other than rich Jews, of course, whose money could simply be confiscated later. In fact, it has been argued that without support from rich German industrialists, Hitler would never have risen to power in 1933. And not only did Hitler have financial supporters in Germany but in the United States.

Hitler’s confident and friend Ernst Hanfstaengl recalled later how in the early days of the Nazi movement, he brought Hitler into contact with “national-minded wealthy business men” and “national-minded Bavarian industrialists.” He notes also that Hitler was involved with the Bruckmanns, whom he described as “big publishers in Munich” and that Elsa Bruckmann “made something of a protégé of Hitler.” The Bechstein family, the piano makers, also took an interest in Hitler. The Party was also subsidized by the Germany army in Bavaria, which was looking for allies against the communists.

Another close acquaintance of Hitler, his photographer Heinrich Hoffmann, wrote that when Hitler left Landsberg prison he had not even “a farthing” in his pocket but that one of his “most ardent supporters, a wealthy member of famous aristocratic family and the wife of a highly respected businessman, arranged a personal office for him and furnished it with furniture of her own…”

Hitler’s press chief, Otto Dietrich, wrote in his memoirs that “Hitler addressed captains of industry for the first time in 1926 in my home town of Essen.” By the end of the 1920s, Hitler was not only receiving the support of German monarchists and the German aristocracy (“these were people from the right sort of society” as Hanfstaengl related – the 1 percent in other words), but started receiving, in Hanfstaengl’s words, “quite large subsidies” from German industrialists in the Ruhr like Fritz Thyssen and Emil Kirdorf. Fritz Thyssen later claimed in his memoirs that he “donated 100,000 gold marks to the NSDAP in October 1923.”

Thank you. However you would think that with Trump's business history and outrageous statements, American corporations would consider their own future by supporting this creep.
