Star Trek The Next Generation did a similar one 20 years later called "The Naked Now".

The crew stumbled upon a Federation outpost where everyone had frozen to death due to life support being shut off and they eventually find out that the frozen staff had been exposed to a pathogen that caused them to act as if inebriated... and that pathogen ends up spreading on board the Enterprise... until the good doc finds the cause and an antidote just in the nick of time before the ship was about to... well you get the idea!

All kinds of inhibitions expressed by those infected on the big E!

What is funny (although panned by Trekkies) is that in the Next Generation version, Data ends up infected even though he was an android - where he goes into a monologue about "If I am pricked, do I not bleed?". Wesley Crusher saves the day when he researches the symptoms and finds the history of their predecessor ship.

An icon from my viewing during college years (Star Trek began at that time and a room mate as well as a future husband had me immediately enthralled), I can't claim I singled out Sulu as a particular favorite, but over the years, as Takei became a presence in the Trekkie world (I'm not a Trekkie, but still a fan) he quickly became a favorite. (In fact, I used to see Shatner around horse shows). Takei is fast becoming a national treasure!
