This is unprecedented. Do ANY of you remember EVER

recall seeing a headline in a major US newspaper write that a presidential candidate is lying?

The NYT not only did so today, but they fact checked all throughout the article and pointed out lie after lie. I am stunned in a very pleasant way. Sorry for the lack of a link, as I read a hard copy of the paper.

In any case, I want to get back to my paper, as I am enjoying it so much!

1. there are a number of articles on drumpfy's lies in the nyt today. talk abou cya

nyt has been just as complicit as the rest of the media in its uncritical and slavishly adoring coverage of the yammering yam.

2. Also don't remember

any presidential candidate effectively soliciting the murder of his opponent.

That he's gotten away with it TWICE is gut-churning.

4. Is it really legal

to call for the assassination of anyone, especially a presidential candidate? What is the Secret Service doing about this, which will cause more work on their part.
It is extremely scary that he is allowed to get away with this once, let alone twice. Media seems to be saying it is OK. No one calling for an investigation into trump about these threats.

12. Rumor says Sec Serv talked 'informally' to Trump's camp after the August incident.

His campaign says the Secret Service did not "formally" speak to them.

It seems to me they used a careful choice of words.

I think it is about time they had a "formal" discussion with the candidate.

Donald Trump’s Anything-Goes Campaign Sets an Alarming Political Precedent

“It’s frightening,” said Vin Weber, a former Republican congressman from Minnesota. “Our politics, because of him, is descending to the level of a third-world country. There’s just nothing beneath him. And I don’t know why we would think he would change if he became president. That’s what’s really scary.”

Stephen Hess, who served in the Eisenhower and Nixon administrations, could not even contemplate the prospect of Mr. Trump as commander in chief.

“It’s incredibly depressing,” Mr. Hess said of Mr. Trump. “He’s the most profoundly ignorant man I’ve ever seen at this level in terms of understanding the American presidency, and, even more troubling, he makes no effort to learn anything.”

"hundreds of friends" lost on 9-11-01. Drump has never named one single person he's known that died from that attack. It's DEPLORABLE that he would use such a tragedy the way he has.

is absolutely correct, IMO.

I also loved O"Donnell's comments on the 1 inch lie about his height. Trump is both appalling and petty.

NEED to factcheck the debates IN REAL TIME. On twitter, on blogs, in as many outlets as possible. I hope they all have ARMIES of researchers at the ready. In this day and age, factchecking the next day is a day too late.

But some are probably decent people, like some of your parents and relatives.
Just explain to me how a "decent" person can vote for a known liar, thief, scam artist blowhard buffoon like that?

But if we put enough turds in, it will lose its luster. Like I always say, "You can't clean a turd by licking it, but the Republicans love to try." They apparently enjoy that chocolatey looking ring around the mouth.
