They seem to "get it" better than our side

How can Paul Ryan call Donald Trump a racist (and let's face it, racist remarks only come from racists) in one breath and endorse him the next? Answer: The Supreme Court.

How can Ted Cruz, who was called a "liar" by Trump, whose wife was used as bullying fodder for a Trump tweet, whose own Father was linked by Trump to the JFK assassination, endorse Trump? Answer: The Supreme Court.

No matter how you feel about Hillary (and I love her like she was my own blood Sister), nothing she has ever done in her entire life approaches a single day of hatred and bigotry in Donald Trump's. Yet, the very people who will be negatively affected by a Trump Supreme Court appointment, and positively affected by one from Hillary, aren't excited, or in some cases, going to the dark side.

Women's rights, voting rights, civil rights and workers' rights, are all at stake. Those people who would set us back, they get it. They would knowingly accept Adolf Hitler if he would guarantee a ninth justice who thinks like them.

Young people need to understand that these are 30 or 40 year appointments. Minorities and Women need to know what's at stake. White Union members, my block of votes who seem so receptive to Trump, could see their working lives ruined by that ninth vote.

The other side will accept anything for that ninth vote, our side had better understand that, and fight accordingly.

That's what the OP is addressing.

We are not winning by a safe margin at this point. A safe margin that would mean no bizarre event ("October surprise" although I hate that term) in the last couple weeks could change the outcome, nor could isolated events of election fraud. I can guarantee you the latter will happen ... whether it will be enough to swing the election, obviously I hope not, but I don't think we should be cocky. The fraudsters have only gotten better at their craft, since 2000 and 2004. Plus various voter suppression tactics, and you know the bullies will be out in force for Trump.

A small lead in the polls is not sufficient for my comfort.

I'm sure there will be some kind of "October surprise" lurking out there...and you bet, fraud is in the air, stinking it up big time.

The electoral map has to be SOLID, SOLID, SOLID for Hillary and infinitely miniscule for tRump.

luckily in Illinois, hillary will win by 10% and 3rd party voters will have minimal effect but in other states they can move outcome to trump....

having said that, I have convinced 3 libertarian voters to vote for hillary....the light finally turned on in their brain

This is not a fucking game! So many younger people don't get that so much of what we take for granted results from the Warren court. For gods sake contraception was illegal in some states before Griswold v. Connecticut. Civil right, economic rights, criminal justice. Lots of clueless people walking around.

but I think with the one coming up Monday night, it might make a big difference.

It may well capture an audience as large or larger than those for the Superbowl.

It's Hillary's to lose and while I'm pretty confident she'll mop the floor with him, I am still a bit concerned.

How it's spun the day after in the corporate media will no doubt play a large role in the how the average voters are instructed to feel as to who "won". I'm not real comfortable with what could be the upshot take-away from the whole circus.

She needs to knock it right out of the park on this first encounter and I think she will.

Those saying "I'm not sexist, I'm voting for a woman (Stein)" are fucking liars. They know she has no chance in hell of winning. If she did, they wouldn't be voting for her either.

Let's start with your example of Cruz. Clinton and Sanders went at it just as Cruz and Trum did. Sanders endorsed Clinton earlier and has had more positive praise toward Clinton than Cruz to Trump.

We get it.

For the example I cited here I believe your premise to be fundamentally flawed. Our party has aligned with Clinton. Not so for the other side.

The Republican Primary was not an issue oriented debate in which one candidate "twisted" the other's words on policy. It was not a "hard fought primary". It was dominated by a school yard bully who made up nick names and stories that humiliated his opponents and their family members and supporters.

"Who could vote for a face like that"...Carly Fiorina. "Your Father was involved, somehow, with the JFK assignation". "McCain is not a hero, I like the ones who didn't get caught." "Your Brother was responsible for 9/11...Jeb". "Maybe Jeb's soft on immigration for another reason (alluding to his Mexican wife)".

To foolishly and mistakenly try to compare the issue oriented debate between Sanders and Clinton to the infantile and obnoxious attacks by a piece of shit like Donald Trump makes me have to question your political judgment and ask, with all due respect, "Have you been paying attention????"

If by chance Trump wins and fills the Supreme Court with extreme justices it will be smooth sailing for Republicans for the rest of their, and our, lives. They are willing to endure 4 years of Trump to get this lifetime reward.
