2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWTF does Axelroad have against Hillary? he has almost nothing good to say
about her lately. Is it me? Am I just clicking in and every time I do, he's running her down? He's doing it again on CNN, saying she's inauthentic, and millenials aren't buying what she's selling.
He just said she "made some steps forward" in the debate.
said it pretty grudgingly
He's really pissing me off.....he still holding on to the 08 primaries?
or what?

That Axe. WTF does he know anyway? All he did was become the architect of a campaign that got a black man with the middle name of Hussein elected president in a time of rampant islamaphobia in this country.
Pro tip: He's not your echo chamber. And if he says something, I'm inclined to listen even if it's not something I want to hear. Why? Because he knows WTF he is talking about.
Believe that.

(2,542 posts)He won in 2008 and somehow still holds a grudge against HRC. That and he's trying to establish his CNN talking (fat)head brand, so the more someone like him, a former Democrat campaign operative, criticizes the Democratic nominee, the more attention he gets.
He's a ratfucker, in other words.

Inauthentic? He should think back to where Hillary stood when Obama was at this pointin two elections, and stuff it.

(5,648 posts)David Axelrod is paid by CNN to be an election analyst, not a Hillary shill. He is there to render his professional opinion about the election process; he is not on CNN to support Hillary as a surrogate.
That said, I watch him on CNN all of the time. I obviously missed the segment that you folks saw, but I have seen him on any number of occasions and he generally been complementary of Hillary's campaign, but not Trump's. When he make's critical statements he is far more critical of Trump than Hillary. I don't think this is because he is picking sides - that's not part of his job - it is because Hillary has been a much better candidate than "off of the rails" Trump and she has run a much better campaign.
It is obvious that some of the animosity being exhibited towards Axe stems from his work for Obama in 2008. I have one suggestion to make - get over it! Down deep, Ax is on our side and we don't criticize our own for just trying to do their jobs.
leftynyc

(28,795 posts)you say you watch cnn all the time, but you conveniently missed all the segments in which he clearly was axe grinding
"many people" here say you're wrong
obviously he's Benin critical of trump, but his false equivalency game plays right into the hands of low info goobers who wonder why this high profile dem op is so down on his party's standard bearer.....contrast him with his former boss. the axe is grinding. wtf is his agenda?

(28,795 posts)the segment I mentioned
anyway, I admitted he's been critical of Trump (as no sane person could not be), but it just rubs me the wrong way to see him be so negative about her.
I've been VERY grouchy about this crap for the last several weeks, since the CGI/email bullshit have run her down in the polls from a near shoo-in to a possible loser--"big league!" this is making me a basket case
apologies for peckishness
CajunBlazer
(5,648 posts)I didn't see the one segment you happened to see. I can only go by the many segments I have seen of Axelrod on CNN.
Apology accepted. Don't get stressed, take action. Contribute, volunteer or whatever you can do. Stress builds up when we feel that we are powerless to prevent something from happening. We are never powerless, there is always something we can do. Once we do what what we can, stress dissipates because we can truly say that we have done what we could and the rest is out of our hands.
Besides, Hillary's got this. I study polls carefully; I have some experience in this area and a decent background in statistics. The post debate polls are starting to come and the news is excellent. Meanwhile, Trump has take the bait, hook line and sinker and is continuing to to try to defend himself against accusations by a former Ms. Universe instead of staying on message. Expect the Clinton campaign to continue to continue to dangle new bait in front of Trump until the election on a regular basis and he has shown no capability to ignore these traps.
Check out this site for the latest polls:

Also go here - You can see Hillary's lead growing everyday:

In addition, more investigations into Trumps past seem to be coming out every day. And the media is now on has big time. Trump's going down.
Note: I am big realist - I was one of the DU users who was sounding the alarm as Hillary poll numbers were going down - but I am feeling good about this election now.

(2,437 posts)I haven't posted in quite some time, but the berating of Axelrod is out of control. He can be objective without being biased.
Put this anger towards getting Democrats elected in the senate, house, and legislatures because she's going to need help.

CajunBlazer
(5,648 posts)Probably not since you seem to have formed your opinion based on one or two segment. If you had watched that segment you would know how wrong you have been. it was typical of how Axe has performed on CNN - a professional political analyst who has been very critical of how Trump has run his campaign.
Again, you seem to have an axe to grind. By the way, I supported Hillary in a big way in 2008 before she dropped out of the race and then, at her request, I started supporting Obama with the same passion. I was able to make that seamless transition because back then I was not involved in sites like DU where supporters of the two candidates learned to dislike each other.
That is probably the difference in how we view David Axelrod. I see him as he is, not as a former enemy.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)I look to see if someone is helpful to the Democrats. Trashing don the con isn't enough. I don't see him as an enemy - he's not that important. I see someone who hasn't been helpful to Democrats this season. You seem to want to take this personally - that's not my problem.
CajunBlazer
(5,648 posts)I was just stating an objective opinion based on facts as I know them. When I see another person coming up with a totally different opinion, supposedly based on the same facts, I naturally wonder if emotions are not involved in forming that opinion. If that is not the case, then I start looking for other reasons, like the other person is not as informed as he is pretending to be. That is evidently your situation. The only other possibility is faulty judgment on your part. In any case you are just flat wrong.
Bottom line, I know what I have seen on many appearances of Axelrod on CNN "including the one this morning which you obviously did not see". I can say unequivocally that that Axe is doing a great job as a political analyst on CNN, bringing his inside knowledge of campaigning to explain to viewers what is going on, or at least what should be going on behind the scenes.
Understand this, Axerod is not being paid to be a shill for Hillary's campaign, he is being paid to be objective. So he is not going to spend all of his time on the air praising Hillary and dumping on Trump. That is not his job. That said he has been, objectively, very critical of Trump as a candidate and the way his campaign has been run. He has also pointed what Clinton and her campaign have done well. On the other hand, you can also expect him to point out when the Clinton campaign makes errors (which is probably what you saw.) Again that is his job.
People in Axe's business are like lawyers - they are paid to the jobs they sign up for. In some case that means directing a campaign and/or acting as a surrogate for a candidate or doing the same job for that candidate's opponent. In other cases they may work for a network like CNN where they are paid to be objective commentators. That said, you are not going to find people like James Carville or David Axelrod working for Republicans.

(3,635 posts)Axelrod may be annoying, but he knows what he's talking about. She does need to speak more directly and authentically (less rehearsed sounding) to millennials (and independents and apoliticals) who are key in reassembling the Obama coalition.

(58,785 posts)the 2008 campaign, finally learning to show more of the real Hillary. She'll never be a Palin, Trump or Sanders on the stump, that's just not her talent, or style. She's a policy nerd.
But people who assume all those calcified old lines from her detractors are somehow eternal truths should take another look. The debate's on line. I recommend starting with that.

(6,974 posts)I've never really liked his style, even when he was with Sen. Obama. Another person I've never cared for is Ed Rendell either. But you're not going to like nor agree with everybody surrounding and involved with your candidate. Bottom line is that Hillary gets elected it's 2016, so it's about her and Tim and not about him. He doesn't need her and she sure as heck doesn't need him. Hillary DOES need the best surrogates out there in Pres. Obama, Michelle and Joe, and Bernie's doing his part as he promised he would, and James Carville is also a great surrogate. Whenever you see Axelrod, just turn the channel and save yourself some frustration.
