Will Bill Weld quit the race and endorse Hillary?

Bill Weld joined up with Gary Johnson to mount a third party run for the presidency because the math at the time suggested there might actually be an opening for such a run to succeed, as unlikely as it seems. After all, polls at the time were suggesting that over half the voters really wanted someone other than Trump or Hillary.

But unlike Johnson, who is flake, Weld is a savvy politician. And he must realize now that the lightning he hoped might strike isn't happening. And that he's left with the risk that he is part of a candidacy that may be increasing the possibility that Trump could get elected. I doubt very much he wants that to be part of his legacy. So it wouldn't shock me sometime in the next two weeks, Weld announces that he's done -- and that it is so important that Trump not be handed the reins of power that he is endorsing Hillary. Johnson will stay in the race, but a Weld drop out and endorsement would be a terrific boost to Clinton.

Not saying its absolutely going to happen -- but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it did.

Sometimes if the ship you're on is held together with bubble gum, you might need to jump on Cruse Hillary to save yourself.

Originally I thought he should stay but Johnson is just so bad.

He cares about the health of the Republic.

Gary Johnson is an overgrown child and a fanatic.

Weld would do well to leave him twisting.

He is positioning himself to be the next libertarian candidate.

He believes the R party is going to fracture and as the L candidate in the next election either will benefit from the party fracturing over Trump losing or be in a super strong position to go against Hillary with a fractured R party and the country in complete chaos over republicans throwing shit at her for four years.

this is how we might see it because we are invested in getting an infinitely superior person elected POTUS.

But, you are viewing it from YOUR best interests, not his.

Point stands, he is a politician, and his position is that he will come out of this as the most viable representative of the libertarian party and positioned to run as their candidate in 2020.

I saw an interview with him yesterday and he flatly said he will remain on the ticket, that he pledged to remain a libertarian during their convention this year and is a man of his word and is going to stick to that, and if it effects the election one way or another it is what it is.

He is positioning to be the next libertarian candidate ...

He was clearly frustrated in the Town Hall that Johnson seemed to meander, and obviously Johnson's all new "Aleppo moment."

I have to think he his face-palming off-stage, but I don't think he has what it takes to give him the ole heave-ho.
