Tax Returns - When to Provide Them

For most of us, IRS tax returns are provided to the IRS, naturally. When else do we provide them. Well, if you apply for a mortgage and you're self employed, you'll be providing them for the past three years, certainly. I remember having to do that a few years ago.

When else? I don't know, really. Who has had to come up with their tax returns to show someone other than the IRS?

Mortgage

Applying for a higher security clearance (actually, I just authorized them to get them from the IRS)

Filling out a financial disclosure when I assigned to sit on a large contract selection committee when I was Federal employee.

Other than the mortgage. I have never given it a thought if someone wanted them for a reason I could understand. I file my taxes honestly, pay what's due and don't worry about it.

Anyone who has asked for them already has my social security number, so that's not an issue, really.

I at the whole thing.

Donald is hiding something, clearly.

When I sat on the selection committee, I had to fill out both a financial disclosure AND submit 2 years of tax returns.

Trump pointing to the financial disclosure is a completely transparent attempt to deflect, IMO.

I think it's fairly simple: He pays no taxes (or very little).

Having to by law and following protocol isn't the same thing really

It's not a matter of law. I don't have to get a mortgage or run for President. If I do, though, I'll be expected to provide tax returns. Why should I care? I file honestly and pay my taxes. Nothing to hide.

I mean it'd be easier to put 2 and 2 together and uncover illegal financial doings of all kinds and manners.
