2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumKaty Tur: Miss Universe was never going to be fired for gaining weight.
She just reported on MSNBC that the pageant made it clear 20 years ago and reiterated it that firing and de-crowning Machado was never considered.
His claim that he helped her keep her title is another Trump lie.
Rather than say "I'm sorry" he would rather lie. What a disturbed man.

(1,188 posts)Trump claimed he saved her job. This is right out of his playbook.

(10,419 posts)She won't even let Tweety talk over her!
Can you imagine spending a year of your life having to trail the Yam on the campaign circuit.

(22,037 posts)Katy Tur has proven herself as a journalist following the Trump campaign. I can't wait to read the book she's going to write next year!

I was in awe the day she cut through so much bullshit with - that Steve Cortes guy (@CortesSteve). The conversation was drifting toward more and more of a double standard against Hillary, and he said something that really drove it over. I forget what the issue was but it was a mountain versus molehill comparison quite literally. And she piped up with "help me see how these two things are equal. How are these things equivalent?" What a FABULOUS question! Does that boil it down, or what?
I was so impressed with her! PROUD of her! And she did something else today, running down a litany of some truly DISGUSTING stuff that specifically was coming from Trump supporters. She listed all kinds of reprehensible behavior seen in live and in glorious color at Trump rallies - the truly nasty t-shirts - some bearing inscriptions so vile she couldn't repeat them on the air, little kids yelling in public that Hillary is the B-word (and more, and worse), the violent outbreaks and fights and fisticuffs that erupt IN the crowds. I tweeted to her my applause, and asked - "how are these NOT Deplorables?"

(58,656 posts)The last few weeks, she's been quite critical of Trump. Tonight, I noticed she didn't say "lie" when talking about Trump, but it looked like she was kind of trying to think of the appropriate terms to use to talk about his mendacity.
