It appears that he was. Let's hope he's changed his thinking! If this has been discussed on DU previously, I missed it:

(23,720 posts)Who is this Nabors person and do you have a link to the document? I don't see anything that says it is from the White House.

document is old, which Bob Woodward is going around trying to torpedo the President with before he was re-elected and had a weaker position. People like you are who he is trying to get attention from to cause trouble. Woodward is a snake and irrelevant. That document has nothing to do with what is going on now. This guy is very transparent.

(2,280 posts)for blowing up the negotiations, claiming that the President wouldn't compromise enough.
Guess lifelong Republican Woodward is not only living in the bubble but like FAUX news is creating it.

(11,607 posts)Re-election has emboldened him, and he is in a very different place than he was last July, when he faced the prospect of an already weak economy sliding back on his watch a year before the election. He had a gun to his head then that he doesn't have now. All indications so far are that he intends to stand his ground. Inevitably, he will have to compromise at some point, but it looks like he has learned his lesson about starting out from a compromise position.

(9,748 posts)There is no way this can be true. While I view Obama as a horrid bargainer, he does not even offer a bargain in this. I can not find a single thing in there that varies 0.00000000000000001% from the Republican stance.
Actually, it probably is true. It is probably a "Grand Bargain" plan written by the Republicans and delivered to the Obama administration. That would actually make sense.
