If Mike Pence was smart . . .

Ok, bad start.

However, if Mike Pence was smart, he would hold a newser today, in advance of the Sunday morning shows, and tell the world:

"I admit that I was honored to be considered and selected as the vice presidential nominee. I would have loved to serve my country, my countrymen and women, and my God. However, there are certain things that take on a far greater importance than simply giving my a chance to hold the vice presidency position. With deep regret, I must announce that it is ethically impossible for me to continue in the role of Mr. Trump's vice president. His comments, his behavior, and his long history of sexist and racist actions and statements are incompatible with my views of what America is. If I continued to run, I would be betraying my faith, my promises to my wife, and to the very standards by which I measure myself and which guide my actions. I hereby resign from the vice presidential nomination, and vow to prevent a disgusting and vile person such as Donald Strump from ever setting foot inside the Offal Office. God bless you and god bless America."

If he was smart.

That one move would destroy whatever chances trump had left, it would paint Pence as an ethical, moral man who actually had standards, and it would catapult him to the top of the list to replace Trump should the RNC figure out a way to remove a Teh Donald. (The reality that is Pence is actually as bad as his campaign partner. Trump has the excuse of not being a pol. P nice has a history as a pol of horrific decisions and political positions.)

If he was smart.

Luckily, this is Mike Pence we are talking about. And therefore, it won't happen.

The running meme among my republican fiends and family is that Pence would run far closer to Hillary than Trump is.

ok - I had to get that out of the way.

If Mike Pence were smart, he'd realize that he has to start training his daughters on a new risk in their life.

"Now honey, when you meet Mr. Trump - the man I believe should be President of the United States, leader of the free world, and man who might be most responsible for your quality of life, liberty and health for years to come - when you meet him, here's how you keep him from grabbing you by the pu$$y."

Yeah - I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that training block. With two daughters, he should be especially ashamed of himself.

Trump gets elected, and then one of the many things he's done, or will do, gets him impeached. All Mike has to do is wait it out.

His play here as conservative is to continue to be his own style of facist and the good soldier to Trump, if Trump loses he has a good spot to make his 2020 run ...

Four cells in my uterus will automatically have more rights than I do, in their worldview.
Kasich might have a little more empathy towards the poor.

Smarter than Pence, (that's rather easy, like a 4 inch putt) smooth, and utterly convinced that his world view is correct.

But on the basic issues, there is little difference in the big scheme of things.

I wonder if Team Clinton is doing oppo research on anyone given the mess that is the GOP nominee. If Trump resigns who would the RNC choose? Pence, Kasich, Romney? Not to mention the three mouse-keteers Christie, Guilliani, and Rubio.

which is what Pence is aiming for. There is plenty of ammunition & hopefully Trump will be beaten badly giving Dems amunition to say the country was repulsed by this man Pence supported & tried to get in the WH.

Also, Pence's very, very far right extremist's views on abortion & other social issues is plenty to have.

Pence is as dangerous if not more dangerous than Trump.

More than Democrats, Republicans put party before country. It's how they're wired. Look at how they've performed in Congress. Look at who they've nominated for POTUS. Despite embarrassment after embarrassment from Trump during the campaign season I see Republicans doubling down and voicing support for Trump louder and more boisterous.
