Trump did not win a damn thing and those who are saying he did

were not actually listening to the "debate", but watching his domineering body language. To those of us who actually listened, he came across angry, stupid, and petty. The constant stalking and the attempt at bullying of Hilary's "space" was so obvious and much MORE of a turnoff. He couldn't even answer the questions.

His base ate it up, because that's what they expect a "man" to do, dominate. But, with women it backfired. It was repulsive to watch.

and, typically, rarely answered straightforward questions in a straightforward way

When asked something about his disgusting tape, he pivoted to Isis. Isis? WTF???

He's still nowhere near qualified to govern our country, and never will be.

He's like a roaring drunk who thinks he's "OK to drive"-- would any sane person get into that car?

Hillary would have been declared the loser. If she so much as rolled her eyes, that's all the media would be talking about. I admire her level of self-control.

Constant interruptions of both Secretary Clinton and the moderator. He didn't answer a single question about proposed policy. Only the one about lowering the highest tax rate from 35% to 15%, which would blow up the deficit. He kept going off on crazy tangents that are just fox 'news' bullshit.

He lied about Hillary Clinton's record and either lied about or refused to state his own policy proposals.

The only fact they care about is that he is, without a doubt, not Hillary.

I cannot believe he is still polling over 40%.

As long as they aren't enough to vote him into office.

I think they're ignorant and hate-filled and brainwashed by fox 'news.'

Don't care about the stats, don't care about the antics, don't care about anything except winning, and "Our team is the greatest!!! You suck!!!"

Our local RW news/talk radio "reports" on the election like Trump's campaign is the hometeam of the local highschool.

10. One thing I think he won, but only temporarily: a slow-down of defections from prominent Republicans

What to normal people comes across as "angry, stupid, and petty" fires up Trump's base. Having fired up his base, other Republicans are going to find it harder to take the risk of alienating those voters in order to improve their support from independents.

I think this is only a temporary gain, however, because there's almost certainly more damaging Trump disclosures on the way to give these calculating Republicans another opportunity to denounce Trump, like they should have already done long ago if they had any decency.

They both held on to their base ... not a hard task.

I was worried that the short fingered vulgarian would be apologetic and contrite ... which unfortunately, may have tipped the scales. His performance and pre-debate spectacle hurt him (vs a neutral response) with the few undecided voters (especially women).
