2nd Debate: Cable newsers tried to give Clinton's victory to Trump

Bizarro world: The debate showed us the real “liberal media bias” — for Donald Trump
Cable newsers didn't watch the same debate as the rest of us — they tried to give Clinton's victory to Trump

Salon.com/ BOB CESCA

At one point during the second presidential debate between accused serial molester Donald Trump and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, the sniffing, lurking GOP nominee whined to anyone listening, “One on three!” The lament of an unapologetic bully who was somehow shocked by the fact that his opponent and both moderators weren’t kissing his ass like his closest advisers and fanboys do.

It surely wasn’t Trump’s most egregious trespass of the evening, but it was so perfectly illustrative of his entitled, infantile, schoolyard bully attitude. Trump is so blinded by the sycophantic fluffing of his most loyal fanboys, the notion of a debate setting in which, yes, both candidates faced the scrutiny of an opponent and two moderators seemed unfair and foreign to him.

So, he invoked a phrase we’ve all heard as kids at recess or from our own children: “One on three!” He might as well have collapsed to the floor, screaming at moderators Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz, “You can’t triple stamp a double stamp! You can’t triple stamp a double stamp!”

Despite this and other disqualifying events during and before the debate, the political press on cable news seemed to bend over backward to shoehorn Trump into the “win” category. Conversely, it’s obvious that if Clinton had responded by complaining, “Anti-quitsies, no anti-quitsies, no startsies!” the same talkers would have absolutely declared it a major fail by the frontrunner.

Specifically, it was the alleged liberal cable network MSNBC and its team of wise men, Chuck Todd, Joe Scarborough, Brian Williams and Chris Matthews, who couldn’t wait to tap into the “Trump comeback” narrative by praising Trump for a performance that the rest of us observed as the creepiest, most sniffle-punctuated and, in places, Third World presidential debate appearance in at least a century.

after 2 scientific instant polls told them that the audience thought Hillary won, and won decisively.

Assholes.

I remember watching the coverage and being shocked at how they were going to universally hand it to Trump, they definitely had an agenda. And then the CNN Poll came out and it was a split second reverse. And several real polls have backed up the CNN results now.

The best was the look on Kellyanne's face when they made her listen to the poll results, looked like a lost puppy.

In truth, if this had been the 1st debate people might be saying he did worse in this one. The only improvement is he didn't interrupt her as much. He set the bar very very low.

One might even ask if there was a bar.

All Trump had to do was not either bring handcuffs to arrest Hillary and throw her in jail or (oddly) grope her private parts while having a sniff fit.

But the public set a higher bar.

And, oh, Kellyanne apparently watched some other debate... she even said so.

I think the women who work with these men would love for some off-camera footage to be released. Female viewers know intuitively they are sexist jerks.

Saw this in the Kerry/Gore debates and how they treated Clinton in the 90s.

It is just pathetic how they get into this tentative group think mode where they go around the table passively throwing out some weak ass rationale to see if the others will run with it until they find something they like enough to be the justification to negatively frame the D and positively frame the R.

I don't particularly like him, but Carvelle did a wonderful job calling bullshit to the rest of them Sunday night.

All of them are about equally stupid.

Matthews especially loves to make ridiculous claims about debates and the superficial performances.

to adjust to their new corporate masters (GE and Comcast). You know, if your employer tells you to do something you disagree with, but you're afraid of losing your job...

They are afraid to lose their jobs and they probably get a 'talking points' list to stress each day, and after the debate they were probably told that it's better for ratings to keep it a 'horse race' so try and make it seem more even...

These corporate capitalist assholes that own MSNBC (and the other corporate assholes that own the rest of the so-called 'free press') aren't patriots at all. In fact they don't give a shit about anything but their fiduciary responsibility to shareholders - not about the customers, the workers or anything else.

And to those capitalists who think they can control Trump, read the diaries of those German capitalists who THOUGHT they could control Hitler. A mere 12 years, and the Thousand Year Reich fell around their knees as Soviet, American, British and French soldiers marched into the ruins of Germany.

We cannot be afraid to stand against racist scum like Trump and still be a fundamentally good people.

Did you notice Clinton's reference to De Toqueville in the debate? America is great because we are still good. But we are losing that fast and if Trump wins it will very quickly become a thing of the past and we'll be just another totalitarian state.

One more debate and Election Night.

And, of course, Breaking News "revelations."

We're lucky the M$M doesn't just turn down the volume on the candidates, and just have pundits describe what the candidates are saying - if they determine anything important (provocative) is said, like they most often do for rallies and speeches.
