2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm not much of a gloater, but
I saw a few bumper stickers on Zazzle that said "1.20.13: Obama's Last Day", and I couldn't help but post comments that they might want to change the date to 2017 to make them accurate.
Just to rub it in, I posted a picture of this button with the comment:
Petty, I know, but I couldn't help it.

Or failing that, show me a picture of banksters in prison.
The ones who have been gloating include Cheney and Bush, the war-criminal enablers, and the banksters and their enablers.
What do we have? In my humble opinion, another four years of very much the same.

(319,079 posts)will always be things to grumble about. You'll have four years to do it on DU..congratulations.
I'm Really Happy We Do have Obama as our President for all that he has done and Will Accomplish in the next four years with We The People Helping him..
The Prez nominated the first Black Gay Judge to Federal Judgeship..
Thomas, currently a judge on a state court in Florida, was recommended for the federal nomination by the Presidential Appointments Project, coordinated by the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, BuzzFeed reports

(319,079 posts)Lilly Ledbetter. You really are out of the loop.. he not only signed it he promoted it. Too bad you've got blinders..that just pathetic
President Obama has tons of Support from Liberals and Progressives. It's just those who think they have an Empty Glass who will never appreciate anything.
Keep complaining, although, you really aren't very good at it.

(18,124 posts)it possible, that our POTUS 'talked' to those 52 to shore up the act? And he did SIGN it into law, no veto. What do you want, a perfect human being? When you get there, then you can demand it of others.

(18,124 posts)our POTUS is still a better man than the perfect in you. Is it possible, your hate and mistrust of our President has made you as blind as some of the LIV's that voted for mittshit?
Just a question, that all. And now another question. Is it possible you voted for the wrong person and/or are on the wrong site with your mistrust and bluedog mentality?
Just a question for you.
And you are not a political realist. Wake up!

(18,124 posts)are hard core. Let's give him a chance this time around. All those acts by him mentioned by you were his attempt to mollify the right. Didn't work. This time I expect to hear clanking every time he walks up to a rethug, metaphorically, and gives him the finger. He does not have to worry about his reelection and unless he was like mittshit and ends up a total fuckup, his legacy is in the bag. Don't be so hard, but i understand where it's coming from. I had/have my issues with this POTUS also, but yeah he's a hellllll of a fucking better man than the snake that's crawling back into his hole along with his wanna be queen. my opinion.
AnotherMcIntosh
(11,064 posts)IMHO, we should all be patient and give him a chance before we start celebrating or gloating.

(18,124 posts)but I would love to see the same thing and mittshits taxes, and reports on cayman and swiss money. How many jobs, spell that families, he destroyed by shipping them to china, india, where the fuck ever.

(47,992 posts)how others think and feel about the last word in your post, "same".
Fundamentalism comes dressed in all kinds of clothes from what calls itself the "left" to the right, extremes both, and the thing that all such absolutists have in common is a tendency toward fascism and, hence, an inability to recognize any truths other than their own, so, sad to say I predict that you won't give one thought to why anyone would honestly differ on your use of that phrase "the same", which is too bad, because it puts your personal power issues ahead of the truth and, thus, warps, with exclusion, whatever good you hope to accomplish.
Perhaps you should ask yourself what your honest priorities are.

(47,992 posts)I work at making room for what others think too, as much as I can anyway, that's why I found it necessary to comment upon a characterization of everything that could happen as "the same". That seems like a repeated pattern as much as the list that over-simplifies and discounts too many factors, discounts others' opinions. I also find all of this focus on Obama, negative and positive, and ignoring the very powerful reality of Congress to be concerning to say the least.

(11,064 posts)Bernie Madoff doesn't count because he ripped off other members of the super-rich with a Ponzi scheme rather than engaging in systematic mortgage-fraud with "liar loans" and other schemes.
You know of banksters who have been sent to prison? Please share it and make my day. It would be appreciated.

(82,383 posts)There was a list on DU, but if you tell us which law you want the prosecutions to be under, it will be easier to find.

(12,011 posts)If we want to effect progressive change we need to focus on the president we have and supporting him when he pursues progressive policies and holding his feet to the fire when he doesn't.

(12,011 posts)I remember what it was like in 2004 and I feel bad for Republicans who feel that way now. At least, I feel bad for the Republicans who opposed Obama based on legit policy disagreements rather than race. But I am sick of the Obama category on Zazzle being polluted by anti-Obama stuff that drowns out my and other Obama supporters' nice designs by misusing tags.

(8,652 posts)I ate shit until the Lehman Bros. collapse.
I took it pretty good. My warnings came true, both in Foreign and Domestic policy.
Now, I think I'll be gloating for the next 20 years.
democrattotheend
(12,011 posts)So we have something to keep gloating about for that long. I don't know if one party has ever held it for that long consecutively.

(8,652 posts)and I feel the same thing is happening. A growing, unwavering coalition that includes progressives, immigrants, labor, women, minorities and a new generation committed to growing the middle class. The other side has the stench of political death about it.
It resembles that type of coalition from that period, born of the same kind of economic crisis. I always felt that the election of 2012 resembled 1936.

(12,011 posts)I had "1.20.09: Bush's Last Day" in my store, but that was guaranteed by the Constitution. Although my high school English teacher once asked me if the fact that I insisted that Bush was not elected in 2000 meant he could run for a third term...scary thought.
