That comment about having "two boys at home" is not endearing at all when referring to the same guy that want to be the POTUS.

The office of the POTUS is not the place for amateur hour tryouts.

Kind of a 'Please excuse me poor English.' said with a pitiful facial expression, so it looks like she's struggling to understand and answer?

I have no doubt she's extremely fluent in the language, but I could definitely see her pulling something like that, to gain sympathy. Anderson might not even have realized, until he viewed it later, how much she played him.

Of course, I haven't really watched enough of his interviewing to really know how vulnerable he would be to that kind of manipulation.
